ive been growing for a while under HPS light but i only have the one and ive turned it to 12/12 to flower my plants
but im getting another box together to get my clones ready in, but im wanting to go with CFLs to save on the lecky bill.

so i was just wondering what cfls i need to veg the clones or even seeds ive been looking round and i think i need 6500k for vegging is this right? but is this warm white, cool white, day simulation or what.
what is what with CFLs?

A little 2700 mixed in is good but not necessary for short term. How long are you going to veg them there and how big will they get? That will tell you what you need.

6500k for vegging is called day light! Warm light and Cool light is for flowering. The blue boxes usually have the daylight 6500k lights in them!

Just get anything with daylight or cool in the name for veg state I suggest at least 3, 9-14 watts per plant. Anything more in the orange or red spectrum such as the warm ones are for flowering, in the veg state they need more blue spectrum or you can mix 2:1 ration blues to red/orange spectrum bulbs. Also with cfls the higher watt the stronger and faster your plants will grow.

i just want to keep the clones in there til my other plants finish flowering which id say is bout a month, but i havnt got the clones yet nor the lights so id say ill be keeping the new plants under cfls for bout 2 weeks or so then i can get them in my other box with the HPS light in.
would it be advisable to add one or two of the 6500k cfls with my hps to continue the vegging?

yeah do not use HPS at all while veging it could burn them up and kill them prietty easily just use fluorescents

reply to mrmicah-- i used HPS to veg my other plants, i know its not ideal but they were fine, maybe took abit longer to to mature but fine.

I like the T5's, I have one thats 2 foot wide and 4 bulb)96 watt total) and I mix the spectrum, can keep it within a inch of the tops if I want and can touch the bulbs when it is on.
