Shanti - What's up with the algebra man? lol. Actually, Envirolites are the real deal; in other words, they're rated in actual wattage - not equivalent incandescent wattage. 125w Envirolite is ,uhh... 125w. So, Crompy, you're obviously not in the US, right? You wouldn't believe what a pain in the ass it is to get quality, high powered cfl's here. Took me forever to find my 250 watt 65k cfl at a halfway decent price. Any of you guys have a good supplier to recommend for a fellow cfl lover? If you can't buy online, where there are couple decent sites with high powered spirals and u-tubes in 65k and 27k (overpriced, of course... PLUS shipping), we're stuck with freaking walmart. And yeah, you guys are right on: the green and yellow packages are almost always 27k/warm white. As to why GE decided NOT to label their specific spectrum, who knows. Pretty stupid, huh? The only ones that are actually labeled are the 65k/daylight bulbs for vegging. And they're available with the
overwhelming power of
26 watts. WTF? Stay away from any other spectrum bulbs; they're just not worth it. >>>>> iminsideurmind: bro, if you're almost to the end of your veg cycle, don't spend more money on 65k's. If you've got some 27k's sitting around, use them!! Lumens are lumens man. Your plants will decide which light to use. Blue lights put out red spec, and vice versa: just not in the same intensity as the spectrum for which they're named. If you've got the $ for 27k bulbs, and you're waiting for flowering... DON'T! Get 'em now, and use them! To go back to Shanti's algebraic logic, in reality, most grower's - especially cfl'ers - have a limited budget. You've got X amount of money to spend on lights. In a perfect world, you could spend X on 65k's, AND X on 27k's. Since we're stuck with the real world, most growers will simply use as many lumens as possible, with the best ratio per cycle as they can afford at the time. Basically, use what you've got! If you have 8 27k's and 8 65k's - assuming you've got the space and electrical requirements - use them all! I'm nearing the end of my veg. cycle, and definitely don't have much cash left. I'd LOVE to add more 65k's to really push the last week or two of veg, but as most growers would agree, 12/12 is much more important in the end. That's the whole POINT, right?! So, I'm adding 27k's in preperation for flowering. They still put off some useable light for vegging, and more importantly, they'll be the better lights pretty soon. Anyway, good luck guys, good growin to all! Sorry about the long post, but as I'm lacking in BUD, I've had to substiture BUDweiser. SO sad. PEACE!
