This will be my first grow and I am going to do 5 plants in a 4x4x7 tent. Woluld 5 gallon buckets or 5 gallon cloth pots be best? Should I start with a 1, 2 or 3 then move to the 5?

I personally start with a solo cup then into 1 gal pots, then to 5 gal pots. I run fabric pots due to the fact that they don't cost much and are supposed to be better than plastic pots. Im pretty sure they provide more oxygen to the roots, and that makes them better.

To your question about the pot type, imo use the cloth over plastic. Recommend party cups-1-3-5 gal or you can skip the 3gal by leaving them in the 1gal containers a little longer.

The best part about the cloth pots is they build a killer root system and they are more forgiving with large plants in small pots if you end up with a monster plant in a small container. It's almost impossible to get a plant root bound in a cloth pot, not so much in plastic buckets.

Here's a couple from seed that I just wanted to flower out to see what the phenos were like. Those are 1gal cloth pots & 3ft plants:

I agree with you 100%!

How is four easier than five? Cause you can fill the horizontal plane of the canopy easier with four than five. Better light usage. If i asked you if i should put two or three plants under a light youd say two right?
Actually your wrong again.....his room is 16 square feet. He can definately do 5 and train them to 3sq ft id actually put 6 in there and still have over 2.5 sq ft per plant.

I was thinking the same, I'd rather have six plants getting a fuller spread using the light and room to the max

Did you really say derp derp derp? 4x4 could do 6 small girls, or four bigger girls. If you think five is the best solution then show me how. Go right ahead. Four or six is the best light usage, derp.

Obviously your an Idiot. Why does it have to be square. You can fill your canopy with any number of plants depends how you train them. You are constantly giving bad advice cause you are a google grower whose only experience is from pot farmer. Keep it coming dimwit.

Interesting schedule. Do you never allow your plants to dry out completely? You water (with or without nutes) everyday? Or by the end of the day are your pots dry? Just trying to get a handle on your method, I've never seen anything like that before. The pictures show healthy plants, so you're doing it right by the looks of it.

I'd say first of all you gotta know what your light covers. Then you can figure out how many plants.

I got 3 plants in a 4x4 and they got super bushy, taking up more than half of the area.
So figure out your light and then see how many plants.
I grow in garbage cans not flower pots, cos they're tall and these plants like to grow deep, not wide. But at the end, 5 gallon smart pots should do you just fine. Once you've up potted over time.

Rusher;

Usually my ladies dry out conditionally because of such large intake fan, plus my oscillating fans on the cloth pots really help aerate well. Water everyday at least a gal. Per plant on the nutrient schedule

Wild. Thanks for the response.

How old were they when you transplanted? They look great to me. I've got five bagseed that are 3-4 weeks from germination that are way smaller and growing fucked up after I started them in my flowering room and I didn't get them out under a steady veg light until a week ago. They're showing what I've read called " nanners " and am thinking I may just have to scrap them and start over. Any experience with this?
