what could have eaten my babies?

sup peeps,
this year it tried growing for the first time and becuase of sucurity, budget issues i chose to grow outdoors (west middlands, england)
but to get straight to the point, my plants spent the first month or so on my dealers widowsill (there also my best friends family)
then planted them out in the great outdoors but after a month-ish i noticed that due to shit weather one of my plants were drowning and the rest were doing ok then after a short time of everything going so well the leaves started to fall of the plant . then they all just disapeared apart from the tops of the plants but then they disapeared too.
what could it have been that killed my children so i can avoid this problem next year.

Slugs most likely. You can bury a bowl so the rim is even with the ground or just a tad bit higher and fill it with beer. A slugs last pub visit.

i do not plant in the ground becuase the soil ph is way to acidic. My first thought was slugs but there were no slime trails, the leaves were nearly all eaten apart from the middle of each leaf finger (the stalks that go through each leaf finger were left alone :/)

never seen grasshoppers in your area? do they get eaten from the tips of leaves towards the stem?

What about rabbits? I mean ... to "Eat" a plant I am thinking it has to be some thing fuzzy right?

Same thing is happening to me it comes every fucking night I fin drag marks ping under my chicken wire and sometimes I even find a random turkey feather near my spot but I also see tons of deer and foxes and coons and ground hogs and squarels an shit so it s hard to tell what is exactly doing it.... I see slug trails on Myne but I doubt a few slugs coud eat just about all te leaves off a 4 foot plant and snap that main steam in half .... Oh an also whatever is doing it to Myne leaves the main steam and all the fan leave steams and that's it
