Alright, I had a white widow grow going and growing in a secret jardin tent under a 600 watt hps with 1 4' t-5 (bloom lamps) in each corner (4 total) and 2 4' t-5's on the floor, tent is fully ventilated! I LUV my set-up!! works very well!!!

Now that being said, I LUV growing the W.W! it's a great strain, it produces well and plentiful and of course lets not forget about the "powdered sugar" buds!! YUM! the problem is that it (or at least with the strain I have) has a long flowering cycle! or does it????

I usually go around 95 days flowering and at that point it will be mostly cloudy with maybe 10% amber (at the MOST!) This last grow I did I decided to let 1 of the girls go until I saw mostly amber, well 120 days into flowering:sleep: I was finally at about 50-50 and was very excited!;-) WRONG!!!

Just smoked some and I have to say NOT GOOD!! I'm much happier with the previous grows that were chopped at 90-95 days! much better smoke!! the "older" lady has a worst taste and the " even more so couch lock effect" isn't present as I thought it would be with the extra amber! whats with that? did I go to long? and if so, how is one to tell??

Or should W.W not have amber triches? :-(

thats interesting to me. I would think much like you on this.
Thanks for replying, yeah I thought that all the extra time and nutes would have paid off with some sort of "premium" W.W? normally going around 95 days, its already more of a "night time" smoke! but I figured this batch would even be more so? sadly NOT! also I should mention that you can actually see the triches changing color with the naked eye, because the white "sugar like coating" started to turn blueish? I will definitely not be going this long again!!!!

High f1, Thanks for your reply, I dig your set-up you should do very well!:weed:

You'll LUV the widow! I've found it to be EXTREMELY easy to grow! 1st, It's mildew resistant (my strain anyways) which is a big + to begin with!! 2nd, the white fly's don't seem to like it as much as some other strains? and 3rd, I'm on my 5th grow now and w.w always performs like a "rock star"!! has never hermied, or givin me any sort of problems! ;-)

My only complaint is the 3 month flowering cycle:sleep:

And thats just to get the 10% amber I usually see at that amount of time. The smoke is excellent! but 3 months is 3 MONTHS! lol!! but now that I've gone longer, NEVER AGAIN!! I'm not sure amber triches are a "welcome thing" with white widow?

I have been growing WW for about 18 months. The writeup from the seed bank said 8 weeks flowering time. Hah! I find 10-12 weeks to be just about right. I have waited longer, much longer, for the trichs to amber up and they never really did in a big way. Maybe that's why they call it "white" widow :)

i just had a WW flower for its usual 11-12 wks. harvested the top colas and let stay the bottom ones. the buds responded with a nice flush of pistils. i couldn't chop them then. i let them go an additional 3 wks and these mothers are dense. heavy. i cut them two wks ago. the RH in the jar is 58 and i will wait till it's 55 before i let it go. at a handsome price:)
