Thank you for doing this thankless job. Several years ago New York State didn't negotiate the contract for this type of clean up. There were carcasses on the highways that remained there for weeks. The state quickly realized how much was picked up and gave the contractor what they were looking for.I get paid by the State to pick up car kill deer. Some of the deer I donate to zoos, raptor centers, fish farms, and animal sanctuaries. What I bring home I compost into fertilizer for local farmers.
I use pigs to help with the composting because they're always turning and rotating the soil adding air and moisture. They also take care of some of the larger solids that would normally take a long time to break down.
