what do you get more from sog or just growing big plants

ive grown using ebb flow and dwc but ive never tried sog on my ebb flow table does anyone know which will produce more im also thinking of using co2 in the room air tight heat shouldnt be a problem the ballests are in a dif room i have fans for air circulation and ac if needed and humidifer but ive seen alot of people growing now using sog method ive got the room but do enjoy growing the big colas the rooms 8x14

Well, you need to do the math on it. Big plants require a comparably extended veg period to devlop structure. SOG plants do not. You'll be able to harvest four times a year growing big plants and six times a year growing SOG (numbers are in general and used for example) Will the two extra harvests equal or beat the yields from the big plants? Is the large amount of extra work required to do SOG worth it? Only you can answer this.

Good luck have fun

If you have seperate veg rooms and flower rooms, you can easily veg up super huge plants while the others are flowering. It just takes a little math and sitting there banging your head against the wall figuring out the right time schedule in order to have your desired veg time before flower.

In my opinion, larger plants utilizing vertical lighting will always outperform a SOG with top horizontal lighting for one and one reason only. Total Square footage of plant growth available for flowering. When you grow taller plants, you are using all the height in the room, as well as the floor space. When doing a SOG and only using top lighting you are mostly only utilizing the floor space and not as much of the height. So you are getting only 1 dimensions of growth and thus a reduction of total square foot of flowerable growth. Just my opinion.

if youre looking for perpetual i would go sog. i got a sog going so that every month i harvest i would give you a rough estimate on average weight but ive only got a couple harvest under my belt and each time ive added light but with a 400 in 2 months i got 7 ounces my first try around so if you have the room for a few thousands you could be easily pulling over a pound a month.

My new setup has a propagation chamber where plants go from seed for two weeks. Then they go to flower in a 400w closet for 3 more weeks, then they go to a 600w flower room for 6 weeks where they get LST to maximize budsites.

At least that's the plan, haven't done a full cycle yet.

You mean they go to veg in a 400w closet for 3 more weeks?

I was always under the impression that the SoG method was more or less for perpetual harvests and smaleer spaces.

say you have 5 strains, and a 4x4 tent and want to harvest 10 plants every 2 weeks, using the SoG method this is doable but growing monster plants it iis not

now if you have a 10x10 room (assuming the setup is adequate for the space and plants your growing) then you could get away with harvesting 10 monster plants every 2 weeks.

what yeild will be better? obviously the 10x10 monster jam.

what yeild would be better using the sog method in a 10x10....no clue but i would imagine the SoG would give you nice quality buds opposed to the monster plants with loads of popcorn nuggies.

No. They veg for only 2 weeks and then they start 12/12 under 400w. The 400 penetrates enough while they are that size to produce budsites all the way down the plant. Then when they go to 600 they are bent over to and all those sites become pronounced colas.

Bottom line, I think yield is a function of how much space illuminated to what intensity. It doesn't matter whether it is 2 plants or 40.
