why is my nutrients going from clear and clean looking to brown and bad looking with floating stuff in in with in less then a week. i am using tap water with a ph of around 6.8 before i ph down to 5.8 ish and i am only adding veg nutrients A+B. i stopped adding cal mag as i thought that was the problem. last week i thought i was having a root rot problem with my clones that i just put in to a dwc bucket. it was not rot it was what ever else is happening to my nutrients. yes my res temps have gotten abit high for a few days but since i changed it last my temps haven't been high. i have orded h2o2 should be here in a few days but i dont think thats going to fix what ever my problem is

Brown algae. Your using a white bucket. Thats a no no. Light is getting in and causing growth. Paint the outside of the bucket and use h2o2 to help.

Must be getting a light leak then. Check your airstones for growth, they typically are one of the first spots to show signs. Recirculating pump will also help.

hmmm maybe light is going though my air line they are clear lines and i didn't think of that being a point of light going in to the res

i did have stuff sticking to my air stones but i bleached them and changed everything out but it came back. if its really just Brown algae . ive started reading up on it and i can kill it but apparently it likes to come back easily once its started

is it normal for Brown algae to settle at the bottom of the bucket once the water has stopped being agitated

Just happens alot with certain water sources. They make liquids to keep a clean res. but i find just good old h2o2 works fine.
