fortunately i don't really care, i don't intend on having children and i don't care if I drop. it sucks that we kill our planet but i won't be here forever. sorry to be drab.

you have to remember that when chernoble blew, it was about 5.5k miles from NYC and the radiation didn't have any perm damage there or anywhere on the eastcoast nor was there any longterm damage in eastern europe or anywhere outside the direct area of the reactor. chernoble was also a larger meltdown but a smaller facility overall I believe.

The problem is that it is not just one generator, if ANY one of the gens do infact melt down it will blow up not only that reactor, but also the ones next door, in a horrific chain even.
I don't think anybody is wishing for this, but it is a verry real possibilty, P.S. did chernobyl run on plutonium? I'm not realy that worried about the other nuclear elements being released, some halflives of only 8 days. Yet that is exactly what lead to thousands of kids from the chernobyl area developing thyroid and other cancers.
