What does it take for 1 gram / watt?

Sorry - not trying to make a what-will-I-yield thread, but I hear people talk 1 gram a watt as being really good, but then hear how SoG, vertical, hydro, CO2, ect. increase yield.

When people are talking about getting 1 gram / watt, is that before or after doing a bunch of advanced shit? Like, can you get 1g/watt in soil, and get 1.5 if you switch to hydro and add co2 - or is it more like you get .5g/watt in soil and might get 1g/watt after you do all the advanced stuff?

Different people get difference results... I honestly have seen very few getting 1g a watt, even some very advanced growers. it seems .5-.7 is very common. Lighting has large part of this, but also goes, nutes, spacing, strain, etc...

Like i saw a pretty advanced grower tell someone... Aim for .25g a watt and if you get .5 get excited and work from there.

saw a guy get 1.5 grams per watt almost, think it was here, used cfl's in a tiny pc grow case, if you scale things up, everything has to be scaled.
i wouldnt worry about grams per watts, its an archaic way of measuring yield i think

Yield will depend mostly on light use as well as strain therefore making it near impossible to foresee the amount that your girl will produce. Just keep her happy and she'll return the favor!

Like they said 1 gpw is pretty hard to do, unless u get good genetics and u work with 1 strain for 3 runs to see what the plant likes and how it responds to things....Also if u wanna go for 1gpw i would recommend doing hydro(Hempy Buckets r awsome and very simple)...This is my first grow and im using hempy and hit .6gpw and they were autos..And i had no mollasses or booster, no ventilation, and lost almost a zip due to mold after i gave it a final flushing....I would also recommend topping the plant atleast 1 time to get 6+ colas instead of 1...Well good GL Bro

From a young seed plant - after third set of leaves top it. This leaves you with 6 tops ?

im two weeks away from harvesting, three ww girls, 600w. should be about 12-15oz. will post result and way i got there....

As everybody says there are too many factors in this to make the math.
Do you only take watts used on the lamp into consideration? - so what about heaters/coolers etc.
But no doubt that what strain you use is very relevant. Unfortunately in my experience the most potent plants are the ones that take the longest to finish (because of sativa domination) So this is the next failure to the the math - for how many days do you flower? - a plant done in 45 days compared to my sativas done in 120 days. Use the same amount of watts any given time, but use the watts for another 75 days compared to fast bloomers.

Go for strong healthy plants. Grow the best genetics you can buy - it's well worth it.

A young seed plant will grow the leaf sets right oposite each other until it's mature - then it will start setting the leaves first on one side - then on the other side and so on.
After 3rd. set of leaves you will have 6 leaves and grow tips. If the bottom shoots don't grow out fast enough - cut of 3/4 of the grow tips on the fastes branches (only the 3/4 of the part where everything is growing out from. This will stall the fast tips for a while to let all the 6 branches reach the same hight. Note that the 4 tips will be growing 2 on above each others, so you need to train these to grow next to each other.
I'm not saying this is the best way - i'd go for 4 buds. Just saying that it's easily possible to make 6 tops if that's what you want.

Wow some people r just morons i topped my plant 1 time now i have 8 tops they will all fight to be number 1 and all my side branchs grow up for the light not str8 out......And i also said top atleast 1 time to get 6+ colas not top once and get 6+ colas...

It was also a Auto Flower(Haze by dinafem)...I did this atleast 3 weeks into budding to and guess what no set backs just a shit ton more tops...Had to top due to space it was touching my light which is 4.5 off the ground....I have prolly 3 weeks left and im guessing 3-4oz not bad considering they only produce 20-30g most of the time..

Sure you can get 6 tops from a single topping. Wait until the 7th or 8th node shows then top above the 5th node. Then go ahead and trim the first 2 nodes(lowest). Got yourself a 6 topper and cuts to clone if you want......

fuck reading, i like to do more growing and try things yourself, difference between a top and a side branch that has grown up, i thought you had ment top tops, not side branches stretched up and pulled down to grow more bud, difference there.
