There's better things to feed the microbes with. molasses is like soda and a candy. Where amendments of all kinds, minerals, meals, dusts, plant material is like a 5 course dinner at high end restaurant
C'mon budz...you've used this analogy already..hahaha :)

@hyroot what is the best mineral or minerals to use when feeding the microbes...and how should they be applied?...I think I heard you say something about rock dust or something once...I'm probably don't and am sorry if so...but another thing I wondered is when feeding them a mineral instead of something like molasses does it take a lot longer for them to break it down or is it just as quickly available to them as molasses?....I can get my hands on all the limestone rock dust a man would ever need ...the coal mines use it to dust with and it's all over the place around here

I use basalt rock dust and oyster shell flour. the basalt I order from rock dust local and the oyster shell flour I get at the hydro shop or nursery.

Do you ads it to a compost tea or can you...well what's the best way to get it to your plants in soil

I just mix it in the soil or a light topdress and castings on top of that. In a tea the rock dust can clump up.

you can add pureed oats to a tea for trace minerals and to control the bacteria / fungi balance.
