EV seeds would be considered semi-auto. They are crossed with ruderalis to shorten the flowering time so they are a hybrid strain with a mix of auto/photo genetics. In most cases, you’ll cut 1-2 weeks off but the potency is typically lower as well. Good option for those who can’t make it into the late season outdoors. I don’t bother with them but have friends that have run them with decent results.

Not autos.
Early versions, another name is fast versions which are photoperiod plants with 10% or less ruderalis in the genetics to shorten flowering times.

I know everyone grows for their own reasons, but decent indicas take what, 8 weeks? 10?
I like growing weed. The fruit of my labor is sweet, but I love the process. I am at the end of flower for a 8 week indica after growing 12 week sativasfor a couple cycles, and it almost bums me out how quickly she matured. I don't have any impetuous to grow faster flowering strains, although I understand why some would. Too each their own.

How about at the end of that cycle you watched your plants melt from bud rot? For many northern outdoor growers, a week or two can make or break a successful harvest. We all love the process and it’s heartbreaking to watch 6 months of effort go completely sideways from botrytis. Sativa dominant strains in the north are a no-go. EV versions allow some of these longer flowering strains to be grown up in these parts.

In that case, you aren't growing a long flowering strain, you're growing a hybrid of a long flowering strain. Calling it EV is a disingenuous way of calling a worked line ruderalis x (other plant) anything but that.

I didn’t coin the term…just the messenger. And I don’t grow them. Not a fan of anything crossed with ruderalis.

My apologies, I was using the colloquial "you", but it didn't come off that way.
I live in a wet humid climate where I can lose half my crop in a few days to bud rot at the end of bloom, that is why I inquire about early/fast version strains.
