What have I been doing wrong?

Ok so I ordered 20 autoflower short stuff seeds and have successfully killed off about 11 out of the 20. So to save the other 9 I have gathered about 30 bag seeds and will try from here. I use the jiffy grow house and germinate the seeds in paper towel. Once they break the ground I place them outside in the greenhouse. I have come home to them dead twice. Also if I just leave them in the greenhouse indoors they dont seem to grow much and have died when I placed them outside without the greenhouse once they start their true leaves. Since I've had no luck I got the bag seeds in hope of finding a way that doesn't kill them. I went out and purchased a 150w hps sunsystem light that I have in a closet with a fan blowing down on it. I just germinated the seeds and need to know where to go in the right direction from here. Any help is welcome.

i suggest just trying to let them grow inside with the new light, put a fan in there and regulate the temps no higher than 90 id say, at the highest. keep them humid while in veg. invest in a temp/humidity meter...good luck bro

ok how far away from the light should the plants be? Also when should they go under the light once I place them in the soil or once they break the ground in the greenhouse?

for those young ones 12-18 inches away id say. once they get older you use the rule of hand, place your hand between the plants an the light wait like a minute and if your hand feels discomfort so will your plants

if possible id use cfls til they get a few sets of nodes on them, but like WG was sayin 12-18 inches away. give them a fan, they will love ya for it :D just keep eye on your temps

Ok but when indoors they need to be under the light once they break the ground? Or do I just keep them near a window till they have first set of true leaves.

have them under a flourescent light as soon as they break ground. they need something to grow towards.

Thats what I though but every time they come out of the ground and I place them outside or under 150w hps they dry out don't know if its humidity dome or lighting?

try taking the humidity dome out of the equation and see if its your problem. im not realy familiar with auto flower strins but this is what i do know.
1.)they are not photo sensitive meaning they will flower when they want to. you dont have to chnge light schedule. you can flower at 24/0 or whatever else as long as they have enough light to grow.
2.)they ae crooses of sativas/indicas with the ruderlis famly of cannabis. this is what gives them their auto flower abilities.

thats bout all i can put in on the subject.

just sounds like to me you need to water them more than, if its from the heat they will dry out over a day or 2 and you should be able to tell from the leafs. but if everytime, my guess is not watering enough

So even though they were in the dome and it was moist inside the roots are drying out? Crap I thought u weren't suppose to water them for a while after u start the seed.

Ok.. I'm just a newbie.. but what I do is germinate the seeds in a paper towel. Place them in the jiffy cup thing under the dome. i use a cheap shop light with T12 flo full spectrum. I spray them every day multiple times with water. No nutes. When I see roots coming out I transfer them to a larger pot but keep them under the lights. After 2 days I take them out into a shady spot during the day and bring them in under the light at night. After 2 days I put them in the sun for a couple of hours then back into the shade. After two days of that I leave them in the sun and let em go. Prolly not neccesary for such a long transition but its worked for me. I do the same with my clones. G'Luck!!

Ok So I will start them in cups in the humidity dome once they break the ground I will take the dome off and place them under my 150w hps about 16" away and leave them there on an 18/6 light cycle and spray them with water a couple of time a day. Does this sound right now?

It sounds like they're drying out and dying. Leave the dome on for 3-4 days. If it has vents, open em. If not, take the dome of for about 30min twice a day. Slowly harden them off like axelbubba does. They should be at least 2 weeks old before you put them in direct light and start to feed. It looks like they're not growing at first because they're growing roots first, then the tops will take off about 2-3 weeks in.
Be patient, smoke a bowl and chill. This aint rocket science.
Good luck
Fred

Awesome Fred I hear ya my problem is patience obviously. But I always thought the autoflowers took off like a cannon and had to be in light the minute they broke the ground?

Don't have any exp. with autoflower, but I don't think they're that radically different when this young. After all they're the same plants, just a slightly different DNA sequence.
Party on

i wouldnot mist them under the direct hid at that young you will most likely end up killing them by boiling the water off the leaves
