What HPS wattage to use

I have a 3x2x3 space to grow. My question is what wattage should my hps have during vegatative stage. And what wattage during budding/flowering. Alao should I use a different spectrum of hps during these two different stages. I'm going to get two HPS systems one for 5400K blue light spectrums for veg and seeding to encourage females then switch to red spectrum 2700K for flowering. I'll supplment these two on occasion. My question is how much wattage should my 5400K hps be for vegging 2 plants in a 3x2x3 space, also the wattage for the 2700K hps for flowering 2 plants?

400 watts will do and is easier to control heat issues that for a 600. Why are you going to veg under HPS? You should look at the 400-watt iPower offer on Amazon. $98 with free S/H. Comes with a MH bulb, a HPS bulb , a reflector and a dimmable ballast. Or this one for a bit more but with a cool tube reflector.

Am I reading your numbers right - you have a 3ft x 2ft floor space with 3ft of vertical height available total?
What is your media?

i would buy a 400 watt hps/mh ballast, a cool tube reflector, and a hps bulb and a mh bulb. would cover all your bases. skip the high K value hps bulb and get a mh instead.

your height is going to be a big problem. you hardly have any room for a pot, the plant and the light. that tents better for getting seeds started and small seedlings.

Thank you dor your imput. I though that 2 hps systems would be very simple as i can just take one out and replace it with a different hps spectrum. I havent dont any research on a MH sustem. Ill look into it tonight. Again thank you.

In my experience you will get far better results using straight MH over anything but LED watt for watt. And not just any Chinese junk LED either.

If you use anything other than maybe some LED COB light, say 2x A51 W90 in that space, it's unlikely you'll grow anything but crispy leaves, until they die. Even then 3ft height? I've flipped clones straight to 12/12 and they've grown 3ft high, good luck.

idk, a hps hood up top, your pot down low, where the room for a plant inbetween?? maybe invest in larger tent. get a perpetual grow going. one veg, one flower tent.(ideally)

i'm in a 2x2x4 tent, and let me tell ya, it takes some doing growing low imo.
anyone old grower can grow apically, its when challenged w\height issues when it gets interesting.
