What in the world is wrong with my seedlings?

Here is an update on the seedlings.
First you can see that some of them are making a recovery although there is still a lot of yellow to the new growth.

These look to be on the right path or I should still be very worried?

Secondly, some of them seem to have stopped growing unfortunately (these pretty much dead?):

As an experiment I am running one in a jiffy pellet as below. You can see the tap root below.
When should I replant and into exactly which medium (example I was thinking of a starter mix of: vermicilaite and perlite with a lot of coco coir and tiny bit of super soil?) in order to avoid the above seedling problems from reoccurring?

I mean technically marijuana is a weed and can survive in many trying environments and also with one set of leaves. Your plants however are brand new. Less is more to the plants.

Also starting them in smaller pots to they establish a roots is better and than uppotting them.

P.S, are these from seedjunky's or another breeder that made f2's

Perhaps the (mainly) topsoil was still too hot for them. I didn't think it would be, but now I'm having second thoughts due to the continued growth being yellow.

In the future I will try to start seedlings in like 60-80% Coco and hope for a better result. Much better than (mainly) top soil, right?

These pots are quite small. Anyway I've been told in another thread, that pH and aeration might be my issue, so I've put some fresh rain water to water them today (48 hours since last water) and also drilled holes in the pots as you can see. I hope these holes will help, but if the hot soil is the problem, then I'm not really confident that aeration was the issue.

I've already had a round of seedlings die on me (they were in hot super soil) so I'm getting quite frustrated / eager to fix this plague.

If the hot soil is the issue, then I might transplant some or all of them into a more suitable (largely coco) medium in a few days. If there has been little improvement. Sounds like an okay plan?

I wish I had more experience in coco. Coco loco from fox farms is as close as I got lol.

Ppl tell me coco is easier tho.. because the plant only gets what you give it. but mixing a hot soil in there may thro all that off. Soil and coco have 2 different PH levels that are supposed to be given to them. I would just go simple with coco & perlite 80/20 or even 70/30 and have a premix of nutes on the side ready for daily waterings. Checking and adjusting ph as needed for the week.

I haven't tried coco yet but I may on the next run. Have a shit ton of soils & compost but no coco lol Also gotta reup on perlite. I need to sift out and rinse the perlite from my last run. Recycle that shit lol

I have a lot of bags of a great hot, potent, super soil organic mix.

I was planning to use that and keep it simple. When the plants are ready for it (apparently not ready until 3 or 4 weeks into getting established). So I don't think I wanna switch over to a soil-less medium completely...

Albeit that might be a good idea at least to experiment with one or two girls and see what does best.

I look forward to when I can look back on these mishaps with the seedlings and laugh... at the moment, it is not funny for me.

maybe take some of that supersoil and just toss it into a plain gardening soil like 60% regular soil 20% of your super mix and 20% perlite? just to dull it down a little. You think that may get them going?

maybe even toss in another handful or 2 of perlite depending on the density of the soils themselves for good drainage.

That is pretty close to what I currently have going but more on the regular soil side and less on the pertlite. Maybe I need to add much more pert-lite to make it less hot (and add drainage)?

I think I will try that tonight or tomorrow with anther 1-2 seeds that have sprouted in jiffy pellets. Then try the coco when the shipment arrives soon too.

Don't have any experience with soil.
I did have problems in DWC before I transplanted to coco/perlite 70/30. Feels forgiving and easy to grow in. Love that it's still hydro so feed wise its super easy. Don't have a clue how to feed soil, seems advanced.

Now I have decided to try my luck with two new seedlings using 60% pertlite and 40% mix (super soil, top soil, worm castings). Good idea? I guess this should be sufficiently not hot and well aerated that it can't fail?

Hopefully this will prove very effective over the next few days

Meanwhile I hope to keep alive the suffering old seedlings.

Perhaps I will need to rescue them by translating to this less spicy mix (or a similar one with COCO) soon....

I'm going with happy frog as my seed starter and ocean forest for my main pots. Going to start my germ this weekend. Got everything set, just need a dehu just in case.

I have decided to put the 7 remaining seedlings (which were in 80% random local topsoil) into a 50% Perlite mix to make sure the medium will be super mild and aerated. If this doesn't fix the nute-locked/burnt seedlings situation, I don't know what will!

(If continued issues, maybe I have to switch to hydro because indoor soil is giving me PROBLEMS:rolleyes:).

Here is the seedling mix I've put together:
  1. 50% Pertlite
  2. 20% Organic Super Soil
  3. 10% Organic Top Soil
  4. 10% Worm Castings
Does it sound like a good mix for seedlings? (I did a runoff test and it came to around 6ish PH with my dip strips).

I've also got holes in the sides of the pots for extra aeration. Due to the well aerated medium/pot I expect I will need to water these every 24-48 hours at least, approximately. Sound about right? Will be watering with fresh rain water or 6.5.

With this mix, I am also going on the assumption that it will have plenty of nutrients for seedlings, for a week or two, until they have regained health and added a few more sets of green leaves. Sound correct?

This sounds promising considering the hurdles you have already passed thru. Should have no over watering issues with that mush aeration. Can't wait to see them take off!

Going to attempt to start a perpetual grow this weekend. 2 photos which will have clones taken from both, and toss them in with the auto's 18/6 schedule. (Haven't planted yet) and I'm guessing I'm gonna do a 2 month veg or more. I want them to hold some good weight.
