What info is real in growing?

I just started my own little micro/stealth grow to get my feet wet I am currently trying to get 4 candy cane auto's and 1 hash plant reg(all feminized) to germinate by paper towel method(I'm scared of handling them I broke one once) I wanted to do them by soaking and soil but could not for fear of ruining my expensive seeds with no possible replacement. I just came here to ask how do a lot of you deal with the misinformation(pure "organic" hippies) or the (goddamn) merchandisers telling you that any other way is pointless? I honestly just want it as simple as possible without fiddling around with bottled nutes but now I just don't know whether I am just wasting my time with such an idea and I should just should learn to mix? or can I use compost(top dressing?) and tea and possibly something to use for phosphorus for bloom? I am using basic wal mart pro mix potting soil btw.

I would get some better soil to start-paper towel usually works fine as long as they are kept moist and not too hot

Pure organic is the easiest way to grow. Hippies actually know their weed! I prefer to drop seeds into a small cup of water for germing. Pulling seeds with a root out of a paper towel can damage the root.

Keep it super simple. I prefer organic water only. I also don't mind people doing their own thing with synthetics.

At the end of the day, all the hype and claims of grandeur are myth. It is a plant. Treat it that way and you will be alright.

You just have to do it and find your own way. I have rebuilt and changed things every run. You will see things and correct them as you go. You will learn to read the plant and know what is going on.

I've been doing this for a long time and still haven't found anything better than the paper towel method. I'm an OG who hangs around the newby section to try to help. Got no reason to try to flim-flam anyone.

I use a 10-inch square glass baking sheet with a raised rim. Before you start make sure you have a sealable baggie large enough to hold the sheet. Wash sheet well with hot water. Then lay down 3 sheets of paper towel - one at a time while using a spray bottle to wet the sheets. When you are ready to handle the seeds make sure your hands are dry so you don't handle any seeds not getting used immediately. Place your seeds about 2-3 inches apart on top of the third sheet of paper towel. Lay down 3 more sheets one at a time while spraying each level. Use room temperature water. After everything is soaked slide the sheet into your baggie and seal. I leave the package for 48 hours before checking. Most all seeds should be cracked with a small root showing. Replace in baggie for another 24 hours and you should find a nice inch-plus size root showing. Time for dirt. Poke a hole in the soil deep enough so the seedcap is not buried. You want the root straight down with the seedcap just resting on the top of the soil. This cuts down on problems with large chunks in the soil.

Good luck, BigSteve.

I'm new to it all m8 also(Have had 1 grow so far).I have a micro-grow in a small grow tent.60x60x140 with a 180w LED,Filter,Fan(Bought all in 1 package).Keep it simple soil pots,Seeds in paper towel method(or straight into soil without transplant if an auto in a pre- waterd pot).Don't feed nothing until around the 20th day with autoflowers.Go easy on Nutes & bloom(start with a half of recommended on label).Only water when pot feels light when lift it(Or the top few inch feels dry)..Patience is the name of the game & if your plants start showing any defe Don't Freak the FCK out!Read the Shit out the internet for a few weeks regarding all methods & the more you read the more you learn(apart from the bullshitters & Inept crackpots with there tips.I seen one that advises you to piss on the soil.still laugh at that 1)..There's loads of pics showing any problems you might have thru your grow. This site is full of really good & loads of great folk will help you along.Good Luck

as simple as possible

grab a pot with holes in the bottom and fill it with double the soil than you need for you seedling( next day), water the pot of soil and leave it somewhere warm over night
so all the excess water drains out the soil

throw the seeds in a cup of water over night (keep somewhere warm), stir the seeds, when they drop to the bottom of the cut put them in small pots of soil, cover the seeds with 1/2" of soil (don't water)

keep in a dark warm humidity place 20c -30c (in a propagator or bowl over the top so the soil don't dry out, give them fresh air once a day )
they should gernated in a few days (all 5 of mine gernated on the same day, 3 days later)

just give them a light spray if the top soil drys out

Make sure you add perlite. You want the soil to drain well..
Paper towel mthod works for me. Just need to be gentle.

Fox Farms Dry Fruit and Flower mixed in the bottom layer of your soil should do the trick. I doubt it gets you through the entire grow, but you could try top dressing in week 6 or so..
