Recreational States

Probably Illinois for the next year.

Not Virginia, yet.

"Although the state of Virginia has legalized cannabis for recreational use, there are currently no adult-use dispensaries open for business. The earliest date recreational dispensaries will be open is 2024. "

Just because it’s gone legal in most states does not mean you have to now go that route to get something to toke on.
What has you convinced this “legal weed” is worth the gas usage, let alone the drive? Most importantly your time.. ain’t no getting that back.
I would just go the route I’ve been going til this point. Give your state another couple years to get on board.
Don’t get me wrong… if you’re just looking to go on a road trip, have at it. IMO the only thing better than traveling, is traveling with weed. :bigjoint:

Bro, you're in a grower's forum. Git urself a tent and a light like the rest of us & grow ur own.
I'm in Massachusetts and it's great being able to pick up something I don't grow, like concentrates and vape cartridges!

But heads up TucanzJr, there are purchase limits for out of state in Illinois.

Out of State Purchaser

-250mg edibles and/or Topicals

-2.5 grams or 2500mg concentrates

-15 grams of flower

Haven't smoked in YEARS. Grew up on Long Island in NY. Most of my smoking was in the 90's. Had to stop because it was giving me to much anxiety. Add in a wife and 2 kids and I thought it was a wrap.
NY and TN are like different planets.
So my farmer neighbor gave me some seeds a few months ago and 3 of the 4 seeds turned out to be female. Did pretty good for first grow. The whole process was therapeutic.
Smoked some and did not experience any anxiety. None watsover. Helped with pain, anxiety, insanity (wife), chaos (kids). Everyone suddenly became pleasant company. My blood pressure was in the normal range usually runs very high.
A 4-5 hour drive would give me plenty of me time. I miss me time.
My stuff wasn't that bad. It brought me back to my lost love.
Older now so smoking it for medicinal purposes was not something I could have really appreciated in my teens and 20's. I have been on benzos for anxiety for 15 years. Can't cold turkey those but I would definitely get off them if I can transition over. I'm assuming there are prob strains specific for anxiety and pain?

Keep it up with growing. As you learn the process, your smoke sessions will be that much more rewarding. Knowing what you put into it gives one a great deal of “peace of mind” There’s people lacing stuff out there to make it “stronger” I guess. None of that can be safe if you ask me. I no longer get any weed from the street, and you couldn’t catch me in a dispensary. I would rather take a road trip to get something good. Glad it was a success.

Fuck man I don't know if I could go years without smoking. I tried years ago to go without and it was hell, and easily the worst 2 years of my life. Soon as I started smoking again, quit drinking, everything started to fall into place.

Here's the answer to how one might go years without smoking. It's not really the healthiest one but it did make life's unexpected moments alot easier.
Dexedrine, Klonopin, and pain meds not by choice though at first. I had 1 panic attack when I was going to college in Syracuse and that was the cocktail they gave me. The Dexedrine eventually switched to Adderall cause they stopped making the original Dexedrine. Now they have liquid dexedrine for kids. Bubble gum flavor.
When I was in high school and college,90's, drs were just dumping this shit on kids. They gave out Ritalin to kids like crazy. And such high doses. At such young ages. Not the benzos though but half the time they would give those too for the anxiety the high doses caused. Then slap on some Ambien to counter the uppers.
Dirty doctors and money.
So when I moved to TN 5 years ago my trio of meds became a duo. Pain meds were first to go. If I can knock out the last 2 meds by smoking weed it's a dun deal.

Basically pharmaceutical speedballs.
Yeah drinking was the first to go.

Been there, done that, and hated it. Yep, weed works for me and has for decades. Honestly I never would have attempted quitting if it weren't for the people I surrounded myself with and the social stigma of it, oh and just tiny bit of trouble with the law hahaha.

Be careful driving through non-legal states. Before Oklahoma got medical legal counties bordering Colorado were making a killing busting people coming across state lines with it.

My curiosity makes me wonder how much better it could be by growers who know wat they are doing.
A lot better, cannabis is easy to grow; while quality boutique medical has a learning curve.
I struggled for several years, learning by error; muddling past all the poor growing advice.
I have friends who still insist on trying to run the wrong strains outdoors, or harvesting sativa too early; creating anxiety effects.
Did you drive to Metropolis?, I drove past it twice last Fall; while delivering to your area/on vacation.
