what is my next step on these seedlings?

Whoever suggested using an egg carton for seedlings has done you no favors. The next logical question is how to transplant 3-4 inch toothpicks without having a fatal fall-over. I would take a large pair of shears, scissors and cut out the 2 cubicels with the sprouts. You can hold the individual cube so it slants a bit and leans into your forearm. helps provide support for a weak main stem, eh? Use a short skinny blade to work the blade between the dirt and the side of the cube. DON'T try to pick up seedling by the stem. Try to curl 2 or 3 fingers around the inside of the cube and pick it up that way. Also, if I was moving 3 inch toothpicks like that I would have 1 1/2 to 2 inch seedlings after the transplant. Again, helps support a still very weak main stem. Basically, remember to always support the main stem in some way and try to transfer as much dirt along with the seedling. Makes for quicker recovery from TP shock.

Although I harvest a lot of plants, 2 a week, seedlings make up maybe 10% of my finishing plants. Vast majority, 80-85%, start out as clones from one of my mother plants. Big reason for popularity of clones with us larger growers is not having to dedicate time and energy necessary to coddle plants from seed.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Welcome to RIU, and the wonderful world of cultivating the world's most misunderstood and feared medicines!!!

The only 'advice' I can give you or anyone is to read and learn and then apply what you have read and learned to your garden and you cannot fail. Anyways, remember the search tool is your friend...Lots of folks here willing to help a new farmer get up and growing. But at the end of the day your grow will be only as good as the knowledge and work you put into it.

It is always great to ask questions but do not take anyone's advice or opinions and follow blindly. Do your own research, you will be much happier knowing you have done it for yourself and by yourself. The first buzz you get from your own budz...is by far the BEST high you will ever have!

Do a search using your current question as the keyword(s) and ZOOOM!! Like Wonka's Great Glass Elevator…off you go to tons of threads answering all your questions. Read all the Newbie Central stickies and learn…

Soaking up all that information and sifting through it, is going to take time. You will likely finish your first grow by then. Viola! grow complete and education well under way.

^^^Good Stuff

I planted them about 4 days ago in a egg carton. 2 of the 12 have sprouted and one more is coming out. How much longer should I leave them in there??
If I had to deal with that situation...I would probably separate the cubicles from the main carton and then cut the bottom of each cubicle out and pot them into a starter pot. That is just how I would handle it.

Anyway, I am Just curious...what is the soil you are using?

An egg carton... that's a first lol...
Nope not even close to the first..LOL!

I see you just joined up...hang out a while and read around...you will see stuff you would not believe!!! Ever have your pregnant GF piss on your plants because someone told you it would be great for root development? Ever put 10 seeds in a solo cup filled with backyard dirt? Ever wonder how many pounds you can yield with two 70w incandescent bulbs?
How about using 3 miracle gro products and flushing every 2nd week and then wondering why your plants look more like a growth coming out of Roseanne Barr's asshole than a cannabis plant? These are just a small sampling of the mostly hilarious and sometimes down right stooped ( I know I misspelled stupid but I was really trying to get my point across LOL!) things you will certainly encounter during your tenure!

Welcome!!! LOL!!!!

I agree that carton may not be optimal to start , but all is not lost. Transfer them either into a setup pot or even a cup has more room.

Even a red solo cup has room for emerging seedlings.

You can use a styrofoam cup also , i like these because once i get them to a certain height , i can " tear sides open " and plant this plug into a smart pot.

I just plant the plug into a smart pot with a large hole in center then pat down.

Haha it's all good thanks for all the replys, would rockwool be okay for the next stage?
I would really like to know what the soil you are using is?

Also, being an old freakie hippie type soil grower hippie.gif I have never been a fan of rock wool...a.k.a. fungus gnat magnet and breeding pit. Just my opinion.

Just good old fashion dirt lol
I wanted to grow thses babes in a flood and drain system is why I mentioned rockwool :0
HMMM...I really hope this is not misconstrue as condescension...You really need to read and learn. You obviously have a desire to cultivate medicine and if I can do it anyone including you can do it and do it well. Before I ever even bought my first seed I studied almost 24/7 for a couple of months. My first grow was awesome if I do say so myself.

Just sayin' broh...if you do some reading not only will you never use an egg carton for seedlings or use 'plain old dirt' You can avoid future issues...nute deficiencies and toxicities, critters, molds, fungi, and viruses etcetera. You can gather information on building and/or buying a grow space and equipment, medium choices, best medication strains, how to find the best genetics, a trustworthy seed bank, and a myriad of other bits of wisdom. Heck, if you just read the stickies in the newbie central, general growing, and plant hospital forums...you will almost be able to get a certificate in horticulture. And you can also avoid potential embarrassment by not asking questions such as 'how much will my grow yield?' or my personal favorite..."I grew out a bag seed I found in my couch...I don't know where it came from but I was wondering if anyone can tell me what strain it is?' ...and other such non-sense.

Are coco bricks

would coco work better than rockwool??
I'm going to use a flood and drain set up but I want dynamite babies first. Will post the set up once I have received everything in mail. Anything helps!! Thanks !!!
HMMM...not to beat a dead horse... BUT (LOL!!!)...You used an egg-carton and dirt and you plan to jump right into hydroponics? I am not saying it cannot be done. A lot of newbie growerz have had great success using hydro and other methods besides the tried and true soil grow....They just took some time to do what I suggested in my last reply...

It's not my first grow I always use soil , but this is my first hydro grow. I usually germinate seeds in the shot glass of water and put em in 1 gallon pots to sprout. The egg carton idea is something I read about and tried.

This was my last baby Julies OG just harvested .

Well "He says, after trying to get his foot out of his mouth"...LOL! You obviously have a knowledge of cultivation. I apologize for assuming you were lacking experience. What was the final dry weight?
