Hi Everybody. I'm new to this site so please excuse my novice-ness. My plant is 5 weeks and 2 days old. It is lit by 2 fluorescent bulbs for 12 hours a day and recieves regular watering every other day. It stands only about 2-3 inches tall and has a very slow growth rate it seems. I may be wrong but I would like to see pictures of other peoples plants at this age. Any pics or information would be much appreciated. I'll have picturews of it posted up soon. thanks.

needs more light. at least 16 hours a day out of 24. needs more wattage too. you need to read the grow faq at the top of the page. search google or something. be proactive. also, your plant should be taller than 1 foot by now.

The pot is about a foot and a half in diameter and one foot deep. I mist it with a water bottle once a day and every other day it recieves about 3/4 a cup of water.

Here are 2 of mine at about a month. You can't really tell from the picture but they were about a foot tall.

Whats the wattage of your lights? It sounds like you don't have enough. Also how big are your pots? If they are too small it would stunt their growth.

Also. The type of seed i planted was a KB strain. Would that have anything to do with the slow growth rate? From looking at your pics my plant seems very very small. As if were still a seedling. The leaves arent even but 4-5cm long. My plant is inferior compared to yours. I really dont understand why the growth is so slow. This baffles me. pics will be up in a little while. you'll see what i mean

I am wondering what type of soil you are using? For your plants to be 2-3 inches tall something is definitely not right. Personally I would not mist the plants at this stage it can sometimes confuse the plant when it is at a small stage. Do you also let the soil dry out before adding more water? Watering to often can also cause issues.

I think the mail issue could be the amount of light the plant are receiving. I have heard of people growing nice plants with CFL's but personally I am a fan of MD and Hid for the flowering. If using CFL's what is the amount of Lumens that the light is giving off (the higher the better). I believe there are three different type of CFL bulbs with some types giving off more Lumens than others. You can place these bulbs basically right above the plants since there should not be any worries of burning the plants, and you may want to add a few more bulbs if you only have one hooked up at the moment. The temp can also play an important factor but I assume you have it at room temp?

it's those big pots, i think. All of the growth is happening in the root system. If it's growing. So, at some point you will have a tremendous growth spurt. But 19 gallon pots????? geez try some 6 inch pots till flowering time then you can move them to a 1 gal. unless you are growing outdoors and you want 20 foot plants. i don't think 19 gal. pots are needed! I am new to this kinda farming. But regular gardening i've been doing all my life!

I actually used miracle grow. i've heard not to, but in my case its all i had. it was the 3 month feeding kind. I'm currently changing the pot thatit was in because the other one did not have drainage, would this perhaps solve the problem? as for the bulbs, i posted a picture of the exact kind i use. i keep the plant under two of them. and yes the temp is warm.

I have personally never used MG soil and there have been a few positive stories but I have personally read more negative than positive. Have a look at the below link that oneone had posted regarding MG products you may find it interesting as I did.

Have you tested the PH content of the soil? The problem with the 3 month release soil is you have no control over what and when plants get nutes. In some cases yu can actually stunt the growth of your girls because it is giving them nutes when it does not require it.

Having said that I am not sure that your problem could not be light related. Can you post a pic of your grow room with the complete set-up. A person may be able to give you a better answer.

I do not consider myself an expert but if I were you I would get a different soil medium and transplant the plants (or try one to see if it improves over the others). I never use any type of soil with a slow release.

I personally have had very good luck with an all-purpose potting soil (sterilized) with a mixture or perlite and vermiculite.you have to mix them by hand with water and you want to ensure the potting soil have no lumps when you are through mixing. The costs of this re relatively cheap, the potting soil you can get at Home Depot or Rhona for $5 for a large bag. The perlite and vermiculite will cost about the same but they come in smaller bags. If you are only doing a few plants the costs will be low.

Holy crap! A little over 5 weeks and it's 3" tall? It's not "slow growing; it's in a state of suspended animation! :bigjoint:

My plants are 6 weeks old (4 days older than yours. Check them out to see what they should look like.

you sent into flowering as a seedling, thats why you got a stunted, non developing plant. You need at least 18/6 light schedule, plus nutes. If your not using T'5 fluoros, its a waste of space. Upgrade your lighting via lumen output, and read the FAQ
