What Is Sin?
I SEE, Sin Is The Equal To Wrong,

Wrong As Revealed To My CONSCIENCE,

My CONSCEINCE Is That Place Of My MIND And FAITH That Formulates The SPIRIT Of My SOUL, That Is GOD,

The WORD Of TRUTH That Is DIVINE: NATURAL And SUPERNATURAL

And The Challenges Of The World Which May Be Blatantly Wrong,

A Subjective Discretion

And / Or A Hurdle That I Must Overcome To MATURE And ADVANCE In To My GREATER TRUE And/Or CONSCIOUS DESTINY,

That Is OBJECTIVE: DIVINE HEAVEN Or Hell?

Sin Is Wrong As Revealed To My CONSCIENCE Rather Prior To The Act, During The Act In Question Or After.

To Avoid Sin / Wrong I Need To NURTURE And Abide By The SPIRIT Of TRUTH And WORD Of TRUTH As Revealed Unto My CONSCIENCE?

It looks to me from the words that you stress in this post that you firmly believe or that you would like to believe that sin as it applies to you is only the things that you would consider wrong/bad if you were to do them.
In saying that, to me that approach says that if an individual felt right to rape and kill and didn't feel guilty, didn't feel like they did wrong then they didn't do anything wrong because it doesn't go against their conscience.

I don't personally believe that sin works like that.

Sin I believe is something that holds us back from greater understanding, or hurts another person.

I believe that God wants us to lead a awesome, fun filled life, but at times we do things that hold us back from doing this, that is sin.

It doesn't have to be something that is only unenjoyable. If like the last post said what if a person rapes somebody, it probably was enjoyable to him, but the net effect was he harmed somebody and he also knows that it has harmed himself. Either by consicousness or others.

How about drug use, are you harming somebody else, are you harming yourself. Two good guestions to ask of yourself to define sin.

Something God doesn't wasn't you to do.

One thing I've never understood is thqat the bible tells us that Jesus died for our sins, but why exactly?

Sin can be defined by Perspective or Religion.depending on ones own values, generaly things like murder, rape, stealing, adultery are considered sins because they are harmful to others and destroys lives. What would constitute a sin is something one dose to either destroy himself/herself or others then the ramifications of the deed often will make more of it occur through others, perhaps not the same exact destructive behavior or doing, yet a pernicious variance will most likely occur through the affected individual who then will decide to act out whether it be unto themselves or others. Not saying that one who rapes will make the raped a rapist but the raped could end up being a murderer or a suicidal or something as crazy as a vicarious who will manipulate others into twisted ideas, unless the affected be consoled out of a traumatic state from helpful others over time.Others will look at sin as a means of labeling behavior control but it is necessary to have some degree of control over oneself less you be the like joker from batman and just wanna see it all burn. Its always up to the individual choice.
Basicaly all i am saying is that destructive behavior proliferates into more of itself, and this fundamentaly is the basis of sin in my own opinion.

Sin is doing something to someone that you would be angry about if they did it to you. True sin is simply believing ones self superior to another and therefore allowed to do things they wouldn't want done if the roles were reversed. That's my definition at least.

To Quote the bible (Even though i'm more into physics than religion) Matthew 20:16 "So the last will be first, and the first will be last."

Note:
Just because I post a religious line does not mean I endorse religion in any way. Religion is very dangerous and deadly if not handled by the right people. You could get molested or become an alchoholic due to communion, or die fighting another religion you find inferior. Kids, don't do religion.

I agree. I was going to say to me sin is when you do something against your own beliefs or ideology. If something is truly immoral in your eyes and you do it anyways I would say that's definately a sin. Something like lust is okay to me. Screw all the girls you want and don't have a relationship outside of sex. I see it as an instinctive desire and theres no reason it should be viewed as wrong as long as your using commn sense and are responsible, there's no victim. Now if you manipulated girls into sleeping with you under the impessin you were in a monagomus relationship or don't practice safe sex then your definately in the wrong. Somebody knowingly spreading STDs or inseminating multiple partners and being a deadbeat should not be able to look himself in the mirror. This is an example of how reasoning in place of "set in stone" rules, and the advancement of technology and cultures changes the way sin should be interpreted.

I believe what is commonly reffered to as "sin" is the reality you have chosen and how you were raised also what plays into the personality you have today. sin is different to everyone that uses their brain.. what is pleasurable to you may be a "sin" to another. what a crazy place we life in

I was trying to be funny by talking about Religion as if it was a Don't Smoke Marijuana PSA. Also reminding people that Cannabis smoking is safer than religion. More people have died from Religion then ever will die from Cannabis smoking.

But granted, the joke fell on its face. hehe, still was worth a shot. FAIL

i think sin is a made up word or feeling by the church to try and make people feel guilty for what is the most part a pleasure to man.. don't get me wrong, not everything that church or religion says is a sin is pleasurable, but a lot of it is..
religion like to guilt people into feeling like they need to be forgiven for their sins, and to do so one most go to church or see a priest and confess to his or her sins, and or give money to the church, etc..
i don't believe in religion, hence i don't believe in sin.. it's all a bunch of hokus pokus magical nonsense imo..

"But who is really to say if sin is anything at all, let alone punishable? We are all still living, yet not dead, so until then, we are all clever, but clueless. The only thing we know from a living perspective is that life will all suddenly stop as we know it for each and every last human being that ever breathed. "--Elliot Smith bongsmilie
