What is the difference between a right and a privelege?

Are there more laws that protect rights or that steal rights ? I think laws are often used to not to protect rights, but instead to protect the law makers and enforcers. I reject laws that assign others power over peaceful people and encurage others to do the same. Blindly following laws is the talk of people vested in their rationalizations...like cops for instance.

That RR is another subject. IMO, just about every time I think about law enforcement I am reminded of George Orwell's "Animal Farm." Maybe that is why they call them pigs.

But as you can easily determine.... lots of folks can't govern themselves properly in society. Try getting by without cops.

Very true.

Most police officers I have known or come into contact with seem like good folk. I used to live in a small town and personally knew every police officer (all three of them, hehe). But some police officers become very different people once they button up their uniform. Not all, but the ones that do sure have given a bad name to the grand majority who don't.

Think of the crap those folks have to deal with on a daily basis.... I'm surprised the "burnout" doesn't occur more often with them.

I could never be one.... somewhere around the 100th meth call/domestic abuse home entry.... I'd start capping everyone!

To put it simply:

Might makes Rights.

Rights are ideas of entitlement that do not exist without the power to back them up. Government (as it should be, but sadly not how it always is) is the power designated to protect rights.

A privilege is something held by only some people. In certain cases, a privilege and a right can be considered the same thing, but not always. I could go on, but I don't really have the patience right now to do so. :eyesmoke:
