What is the difference between Nute burn and deficiency.

I have two plants that are going yellow and drying out. I originally thought it needed more nutes because i was running the res without nutes. It is a DWC set up, I had the nutes under 200ppm. I added nutes and the ppm was around 330. After a few days the plants looked worst. I checked the PH and it was off. I dumped the reservoir and put new PH balanced water in without nutes. They still look like they are dying. The plants are only 2 weeks old as well.View attachment 2147325View attachment 2147326View attachment 2147327View attachment 2147328View attachment 2147329

mmkay what is your ppm with no nuts? and then i see a problem looking at your net pots i can see holes where light can get to the water. NO light must enter the res. NEEDS to be 100% light proof. What are your water temps in the res? i do DWC and my plants like around 67 ish. U can put frozen water bottles in there to keep water temps. that is an idea.

My tap water runs around 160-170ppm. It normally has good PH around 6-7. Lately for some reason it is around 8. I did fix that problem and the PH in the res is now around 6ish. My water temp is around 70 Fahrenheit. My grow space never exceeded 85 Fahrenheit. That is the max normally it is in the upper 70's.

I just added more pebbles to fix the light leak just now.

mmkay and make sure your oh in the water is 5.6 and run it till 6.1 and then clean it out and put fresh water and ph it down to 5.6. Then u want to try lower the rest temps by 3 degrees because 70 degrees or more u run a higher chance root rot and what not. But dont add nutes till u get some fresh new looking leafs and then slowly add nuts :) and you should be good sir

Ok, to make sure I understand. I set the PH to 5.6 and wait till it goes to about 6.1 and then flush it. Put in new water with PH 5.6 and try to lower my res temp a little bit. When my plants start producing nice leaves I add a little nutes.

sheet ... pH this, ppm that, temp ... whatever, lights on roots (shock horror)

Admit it, you havent the first clue about growing.

Try growing a plant in a pot of soil - just so you know what they are supposed to grow like.

But first, put those plants out of their misery.

Also to add to that. test your res and write down the ppm and then half way threw the day or nxt day check them again. See if the ppm is going up or down. if it is going up the plant is just wanting water and not using the nuts and slowly the ppm will increase and burn the plant but u need to make sure the ph is 5.6-6.1 because if not what i am telling u will not work mmkay. if the ppm lowers then u are good becuase the plant is taking water and nuts and u can add some nuts if it looks like it is sucking nuts. example

DAY 1 6AM 180 PPM
DAY 1 6PM 145 ppm IT IS looking for nuts so add some

Day 2 6 am 280 ppm
Day 2 6pm 266 ppm not absorbing a ton so u are perfect u want to see not a whole lot of change so it is being stable and making sure ph is 5.6-6.1 :)

+-Soil is very good beginning stage to start with and it is mroe forgiving. My friend screwed up his plants by trying hydro and not paying attention. I love hydro because i am home all the time so i get bored and check them every 6 hrs and make sure all readings are perfect :) but soil u can water and pretty much leave for 3-4 days depending on how many gal

Hey Matt, This is my 5th grow with this set up. I never had any problems before. If your so great then why don't you give some helpful advice.

I think my problem was that I let the PH go. I had consistently good PH tap water for so long that I neglected to check it after my second grow. The two after grew perfectly. Now my fifth which is now is causing me problems I never had before.

Ok, I have new leaves but they too are yellow. This time they are yellow in between the veins. I added nutes and the ppm is a little under 300.
