What is the earliest you have chopped due to rot

So a question for the experienced guys and fellow noobs how erly on flower do you try to rescue some product due to mould or rot no one wants to crop 6 week old buds but would it be somthing to consider if you were processing for edibles

I do know that it best to get it to maturity but I’m thinking if there is a severe rot problem and it can take out a plant in 3/4 days is there a point where you just chop it down from what I hear the bigger buds will go first

Thank you for your reply I have never harvested erly bud before but I’m outdoor in Europe and the wet weather just makes me paranoid so I thought I’d get a feel for what’s possible cheers dude

Some plants are more resistant to bud rot than others. Genetics, overall plant health, and bud size/density are major factors.

Weeninng your plant off nitrate & urea nitrogen also helps. (complete protein synthesis)

Unfortunately, plants in late flower are getting weaker because they're slowly dying -- similar to salmon when they go up rivers to spawn.
As a general rule, if I've had to surgically remove bud rot from multiple locations on a plant, it's time to chop because it's only going to get worse.

Yes I think you right the reality is I have 5 weeks easy to go and I’ve seen small amounts of mildew and no sights of rot yet but I think it’s coming cheers mate

5 weeks to go sounds way too early to me, but obviously I'm not looking at the plant. If you could go another 3 weeks I'd do it. Obviously there does come a point where something is better than nothing. You'd probably be well advised to try something that flowers faster and/or earlier in the future.

Yeah I have bein advised to deprive them this was my first outdoor and it went great until the late flowering thing I didn’t really know what to expect so I did a experimental run next year will be level 2 I think lol

Bud rot? I have felt it's cold dead hands on my weed.

If you decide to cut plants early, consider harvesting in stages. Top first, bottom buds last.

That way you get some bud and also get to experiment on the remaining plant. I'm trying citric acid based sprays and it seems to help. I've never been a fan of spraying in late flower, so I feel a little guilty when I spray. I try to spray in the morning so I don't saturate the buds too much. It's also a good time to pick mold out when the mold spores are damp and not ready to fly all over the place.

Yeah my only real issue is I’m not with the plants o can’t check them everyday long story short I’m in hospital so I’m thinking if I go ho e n see tomuch rot one day I just go all samurai lol but we will cross that bridge as an when

Jeez, sorry to hear that. Upside is you won't be tempted to cut 'em every day? They certainly look really healthy, but nowhere near done.

I think I'd defoliate the crap out of them and let em go a couple of weeks before I cut plants 4 to 5 weeks early but it's your call and a tough one to make for sure. I just put up a shelter for mine as I have had a couple spots of bud rot from caterpillar damage and some PM I fought early on. It's 95% humidity here at night and we have 5-6 days of rain forecast that just started an hour ago so I totally feel your pain. Mine are only two weeks out so I'm trying to just let them finish bulking up and let them ripen. I'll be checking multiple times a day though which I'm fortunate to be able to do. Best of luck with your garden.

No worries cheers mate best to see what’s peoples opinion was but I’ll leave them until the rot gets too bad

Yeah I do a lot of defoliation when I can get there never seems to be enough lol but I think next year a rain cover needs to be constructed just to keep them dry ish thank you for your reply mate I don’t want to chop and will hold off untill I see more mould
