What is the fascination with Kush?

I was talking to my old pot-head buddy the other day, I was asking his opinions about different cannabis strains, all he had to say is Kush this, Kush that, Kush is so expensive and so good and blah blah blah. I was trying to tell him that there are many more potent strains with better taste and he would not hear it. Am I wrong here?

I bought into the kush craze and started some Banana Kush, only because it is sought after, not because its the best. I have different smoke for my personals other than kush varieties.
 
Its a hype thang. In FL, we called anything that wasn't mids or regs, Krippie(sp). Most people in FL don't know much about cannabis since it is highly illegal there. So when you ask them about good cannabis, they say "I can get some krippie for X$" they are talking about that fire. I've seen Kush used the same way, as a term for high quality cannabis. I've never grown or sampled Kush but with strains like Hong Kong, Pineapple Express, Big Skunk, C-99, Purple Flow and Raspberry in my garden, I don't feel like I'm missing anything.
 
im with you man im in the uk and we havent got into the kush kraze think its an american thing as i know a few americans that or mad for the kush. but there are far better, tastier, more potent stuff out there to many to list
 
its like when everyone called good bud chronic. its a culture thing, like rappers say kush and so all the young people start calling everything kush. now whenever anyone gets some killer bud but they dont know the strain they say its kush. people selling bud will hype it up and call it kush. a lot of people on riu would ask what kind of bud they had from a pic, and i would always make up a name like cucamonga kush just to fuck with people lol. im sure a lot of it is not even a pure kush variety. after i wrote this i see phyzix beat me to calling it that lol. a lot of it is hype and dumbass people although there is some real and dank kushes out there.
 
i've been wondering the same about "kush", have started growing some purple kush from clones now though to shut my friends up... they can have it... i'll keep the dumpster, lsd, and cheese for myself... what songs do they mention "kush" in? i listen to rock & roll so i'm not hip with the kids' lingo these days...

I think Gucci Mayne references Kush in "is you rollin" or whatever the fuck the name of that song is. I've heard it in a few other songs too.
 
i have heard it in a lotta songs over the last few years. im sure lil wayne has rapped about it too, thats probably why it got so popular with the youngsters. also purple weed got big a few years ago and all the rappers were talking about it.
 
Come on, you cant say a real OG Kush is not one of the best old school strands. Its good stuff. Potency is not everything.
 
I agree. I enjoy all flavors out there too and not a kush-snob. :p Indeed kush seems to be a little over rated right now but that is only because there are a lot of meds out there that have a kush label on them... it is kush this and kush that so pretty much any kush u find out there is diluted. For me the only true kush med out there is something like an OG kush. Da real OG...there are fugazzi OGs out there too. Everything else is a diluted OG with traits added from other strains. Still excellent meds but not 100% kine kush. With that said I just sampled some supposedly Master Kush and I'm pretty impressed with this kush hybrid.
 
Well where i live people call anything that isnt regulars kush so maybe thats why, people don't understand that kush is one strand of weed, i could sell anything with a lot of crystals as "kush" here haha.
 
Exactly. Purps actually is going through the same thing. I remember when GDP (well at least it was GDP here in my neck of da woods) started the purple/grape fascination. Hazes is another example. Haze this haze that.
 
Well.. I'm not as fond of kush as I am the OG's. Go to a high quality clinic and i do mean HIGH QUALITY.. Ask for their OG's.. which I'm guessing are all kushes.. They are simply the best. The smell cannot be beat. But the smoke probably can be. Haven't ran into anything that beats the best OG's around here.
 
All i can say if your smoking kush and thinking hmmm is not bad than your not smokin kush . REAL O.G Kush will knock you on your ass.
 
any one know where I can get some kush seeds froma reliable seedbank, and what are your experiances with the kush from that company
