The absence of specific intelligence about an imminent attack should not have prevented the Department of State from taking more effective steps to protect its personnel and facilities in Benghazi.

Ambassador Stephens declined both times it was offered.
I guess he saw the merit of keeping a low profile in an ongoing CIA operation.

Some where along the line she agreed with whatever the CIA proposed.
Fair enough?
"In 1998, the United States also changed its underlying policy toward Iraq from containment to regime change and began to examine options to effect such a change, including support for Iraqi opposition leaders within the country and abroad. In the 4 years since the inspectors, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al-Qaida members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001.

"It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein wiill continue to increase his capability to wage biological and chemical warfare and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East which, as we know all too well, affects American security."
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

Completely fair.

You just listed the number 1 reason I won't vote for her.
Her support for the Iraq war.
She knew better but thought it better to support it politically for her

Not a goddamn thing a libertarian system of government could do, that's the point.

Would you rather live under a system of government that has the ability to do something or not?
You do realize that most of the equipment from NASA and other government agency's was built by private contractors right?

You do realize that right now, in America, private companies have more access to space than the government due to budget cutbacks and stupid policy planning right?

What a libertarian government would do is look to the private sector, possibly with some incentive but staying alive might cover it. Said private sector could come up with ideas and best of practice solutions for the problem and then we take the best course of action.

If the government discovered an asteroid currently headed toward earth, how long would they cover it up?

Because going to the moon or building a space telescope would be a profitable investment move for a business?

Have you heard of Virgin Airlines? Do you even follow the current advances of technology regarding private access to space? Why dont you do a little research into what is happening already and maybe you want to change your post...

The government contracts out to private enterprise, it doesnt do almost anything itself.

Buy the time we see it, it`ll be too late, better off not seeing it.

But billions would put scanners out there from NASA, After they solve the global warming thing,... maybe.
