Good you were able to help it, I've heard of people having to use come-a-alongs to get stuck calves out and most of the time the momma don't fair so well.

We got the calf turned around, SO GROSS, and then used a rope to help get it out. Calf and mother were fine.

i have not really done anything weird with any animals...but i would like to get some chickens when i move..any advice? also i want to get a hawk or a hybrid falcon...anyone have any expierance with either?

Best piece of advice: Keep the hawk/falcon away from the chickens. Do you want chickens for pets, eggs or meat?

doubt i wil get my hands on a hawk or falson really..kinda a long shot...i know one bird man and he told me you have to catch your first bird..making a trap with fishing line like nooses and use a chicken as bait on a platform and train the bird....but i would like some fresh eggs from the chickens..i know nothing about farm animals

Get Rhode Island Reds and some Araucanas. Do a lot of research. Like cannabis, chickens do need supplements. Some for egg shell density and others for the health of the chickens. Chickens are immensely stupid and you have to keep an eye on them even in a coop. They will peck each other to death.

Roosters can mean so no more than two, I had a hen that got her comb ripped off by multiple roosters trying to breed her and her scalp was showing and all bloody. I thought she would die but I brought her in a few days and put her on a newspaper and fed here rice so she managed to survive.

You won't want a rooster around if you plan on collecting eggs, unless you don't mind eating fertile eggs.

I had a dog that I loved dearly who had died and I tried to give him mouth to mouth to bring him back to life , then I dug a hole for him and I got in the hole and couldn't let go of him . I held him in the hole for a long time . He was a good friend to me and I loved him dearly . Later I figured out he was killed by a guy who wanted to break into my house but couldn't because of the dog . The guy lived in a camper and all I can say is he had to leave his camper and everything he had and never come back , because he knew I found out what he did . He also had a good idea what I was going to do to him if I caught him . The dog was a beautiful pure white lab that I rescued many years ago and I still miss him .

My neighbor had roosters . This one rooster was in a field with about ten cats all around him and a guy said to me how come the cats don't just gang up on him and eat him . Anyone who knows roosters would know that the rooster would be more likely to eat those cats up quick . A rooster is a fighting bad ass animal and those cats knew it .

My Catohoula bulldog Goes out and wrestles with our biggest rooster. It's pretty funny but the bulldog knows his limits and won't hurt the rooster.

So, is it possible to do both or is that a huge clusterfuck? I would like to have chickens for both purposes but would not enjoy my eggs to have rooster manjam included.

My stepfather has one rooster with 20 chickens . They eat and sell the eggs . I don't really know how this works , just that he says you have to keep a rooster around .

You'd have to keep them separated, that's really the only way I can think of doing it. I keep my hens in a coup and the roosters roam free.

This is fucked up. I'm with WW, I'd follow him. But I'd probably boil him in a 55 gallon drum of hot oil once I found him. =)

So, do the roosters actually sex the hens to fertilize the eggs or is it more like fish do it? I've never heard of chickens getting it on.
