What is the worst strain you have smoked or grown?

wow..thats soo different from the ice i had, it full flowered in 50 days, it looked ultra dank dark brown buds with red hairs, smelt very pungent & was a knockout smoke that lasted a medium amount of time, nirvana has definitely changed the genetics between our batches...sorry to hear
 
@greencropper when something wins the cups or comps that doesn't mean it's what your growing or what a seed company is selling. It's a private clone that they named after a product line or they named a product line after it. They aren't the same. Even if it was from companies actual line they have 10'000 plants to choose from in prep for the cup.
Names are lies for the most part.

Call some shwag some name and dummies will buy it. Same for shit at dispensaries.

It is my opinion that nothing is more corrupt than the selling of strains by 1000000000 seed banks.

Especially "pick and mix". Like some guy gives a shit. Wow you spent $20 on random singles? Yea right. Reach in the "what ever the fuck" bin for a hand full and it's on its way to you.
 
If I buy seed I try very hard to avoid hybrids, trends, and companies I can't get a solid lineage from. It will be transparent companies (as much as can be) like mr nice

But even then you usually have to go through a 3rd party and rely on them to actually get you the right seed and not just some random shit and tell you that they sent the authentic seed. Imagine even the accidental mislabelled stuff that's pure human error or simply an unorganized shop etc

i do agree with that to a point especially pick & mix...im sure anything can & does happen in that scenario with open packs flying around, but for eg...here on RIU i see growers time after time with their own pics to back up their words about certain strains like bodhi - sincity - rare dankness etc offering the same story in that the beans from these banks are really very good, in a uniform manner, yet i see hardly any cannabis cup winning strains being grown by the regular growers here on RIU... what im searching for like i guess pretty much which most RIU members are...the real killer genetics and not a trumped up strain thats not soo good created by a rich seedbank and promoted through worldwide cannabis media orgs like cannabis cup etc...apologies to rshackleferd for jumping a bit off topic

I dont think its off topic, these are significant contributing factors to disappointing grows and shit smoke.

I used Goldenseed for some 3rd party orders of seeds that some breeders wont ship themselves. I cant say for certain but I am fairly sure I got a bunch of un authentic beans shipped out plus a tonne of their seed as freebies. I popped 'em all out of curiousity.

There seed was so stretchy, like 5-12" between nodes, I just let em buck on the property till I finally decided to cull em. Spent my time on more deserving plants in the mean time. All the different strains looked exactly the same...
Those I guess I should mention where ( " " ):
blue cheese, higgs boson, northern lights. None of which where actually those strains *IMO.

The cannabis cup does not reflect the seed market at all. The judges have to sample too much stuff in a short time. Seen this (hahaha) Cervantes video where he was a judge? That's ridiculous, there is no way somebody can really judge weed like this.
Then there's the bribing.... was it Barney's who got banned for that a few years back?
Even if the winner is good weed it may have been a clone only, a lucky F1 or a seed from a hermie like gg4. But getting seeds which reflect the winning samples can be hard to impossible with some strains.
And why the fuck do people think that they can just go buy some seeds and produce "cup winning" gear? And what is "cup winning gear" anyway? I have never had the chance to score an ounce to do my own testing. A couple of bongs or spliffs may get me stoned (or not) but i won't tell me anything about long term properties like tolerance or how it helps me sleep or whatever. So in my opinion the cannabis cups may be fun to visit but it's marketing which doesn't reflect the real world at all.
 
I had a really good run with nirvana Master Kush. Hard dense nuggs that were actually quite potent. Excellent smoke for the price.

I had a few runs of cali connect that were all culled due to a proportionately high number of herms. Worst smoke would be Pineapple Chunk, Grapefruit, and then certain phenos of Dinafem OG Kush and TH Seeds MK Ultra. They had some awful taster and were fluffy larf. There are more but I can't think of them this early.

Yea heard about the barnies bribing or either switching batches of herb at the cup snakeish shit to me then again look at most modern day businesses even fucking Volkswagen is pulling some shady shit with diesel cars, fudging the numbers to meet standards. Guess that's why people take risks and order a batch of beans and websites like this exist so we can compare and post results, opposed to listening to some multi million dollar multi bullshitting company, so lets all keep up the good work then
 
Man, I sure wish I had saved the GALLON size jars of Mexican Sativa seeds I used to come up with back in the day! If I had stored them well and they were still viable, then I could sell them for $100 each, today as "the real landrace Sativa" or some promo like that!

Seriously though, I'm seeing some pretty nice growth on this current run of a few different strains from a few different companies of repute. Only time will tell how the buds turn out from them…..but, you know what? -GROWING the plants and anticipating that they might turn into the greatest thing I have ever smoked in my life is what I think the real "secret" fun is starting to become for me.

Flo from dutch passion was really bad. Really low potency on that one.

Longs peak blue from rare dankness, also really bad. Full of tiny white seeds despite no contact with pollen. Bad taste too. The hash even had a lousy taste to it.

The worst so far has been fresh candy from pyramid seeds. It's so bad I'm not sure if I want to post a full review of it. Absolute garbage. All fluff, no resin.
 
Cali Conn-Green Crack, if it germinated, it was a hermi. The same with Barney's Critical Kush! My Pineapple chunk was atleast potent. I am embarrassed to be talking about Barney's lol.
One that I am most disappointed in would be TGA's Vortex. My cousin was asking me about it, and it was 2012 when I ran it the first time. I bought another pack last year, and it was nothing like the 1st!!! I have to tell people that it is no good anymore, something happened???
My favorite seed is probably Reserva's Kandy kush. I just ordered 2 more packs!!!
 
Off the top of my head, the worst had to be Chem 91 skva from Cali Connection. Out of 10 regs I acquired 2 females. Of which were both complete crap! Resembled nothing from chemdawg whatsoever.

super skunk from sensi,,,planted 5 feminized seeds and all smelled like freshly cut grass, buds wer like the density of cotton balls and weighed like one too. zero crystalization, i may as well have grown ditch weed,, it wouldve costed less for the seeds and the buds would have probably been better too... i was really disapointed to say the least...i couldnt give away the crap,, it gave me a migrain headache and ive never coughed so hard in my life,,, thought id be spitting up blood...sorry SENSI but your super skunk is nothing but BAD DITCH WEED!!!!
 
wow lots of nirvana haters here,,, ive always had good luck with nirvana..pluss id rather have a bad batch of 30 dollar seeds than a bad batch of 100 dollar seeds...i had bought 5 dj short blue berry seeds at 25 bucks a seed and not one even sprouted,, talk about upsetting 125 bucks for nothing!!!! i refuse to buy dj short or cali connection after i lost hundreds of dollars on their gear with not 1 decent phenio from cali and not even a sprout by dj....

aint that the truth,,, you can spend a thousand dollars on seeds from 1 certain strain,,plant them all and not get ONE that even comes close to resembling the write up and picture of that strain!!! i feel that seeds should be stabilized more often so you can get what you pay for...not be on a hundred seed phenio hunt to find that one that you thought you wer buying to begin with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was able to be a judge this last year for a smaller competition but I was really appalled at how the whole process was put together. They honestly don't give you enough time between picking up your judges bag and the actual submittal date. I think I had 6 days to try over 31 samples.

The cup winning entry was decent in my opinion but it is really hard for me to tell how these folks picked. I honestly think it is more of a favoritism thing, people in the judges quarters seemed to know each other and some even discussed about which ones they entered so even though they were all labeled with celebrity pictures it isn't hard to tell which one is purple trainwreck from durban poison.

Competitions like these aren't really objective at all.

TLDR: Do not get hyped up about who wins, you will most likely never encounter the winning cut and if you do find seeds for sale you are basically buying a lottery ticket. ( Just take a look how many strains win cups and then within 6-8 months they got seed packs all over, how much testing can you possibly do )
