Because they growing. When watering. Water round the outside of potWhy are they like this?
Poor quality soil. Plant your seedlings inside and then transplant outside at 2-3 weeks old. Whatever is in that dirt your seedlings do not like it. Use a better source. Fox Farm happy frog is fantastic for seedlings. Even miracle grow moisture control would be better than what you're using. The plant's foliage is telling you it doesn't like your soil. Fix itWhy are they like this?

Genetics don't cause foliage to become damaged. Damage is incurred by what the plant absorbs or environmental conditions it is exposed to.I think it is just genetic...I have one like this I started in happy frog and is still in happy frog, and the other 5 in happy frog do not display this characteristic either.
The same damage in your small seedling is now evident in your larger plant. You have a problem with your medium. You need to fix it. What PH are you watering in with? Are you feeding every watering? You shouldn't be. Talk to me. We'll sort you outHad the same thing. You can chalk it up to genetics or if you had just transplanted into soil then it is probably adjusting to the nutrients and is beginning it’s life. No worries mate. Here are some pics of my plant that did the same thing and she is thriving now
