What is un-American About The Tea Party

OK...Whatever. Spin as you wish...ObamaCare makes the Insurance Industry wealthier as it forces everyone to have medical insurance. That's what it's all about...Everyone MUST have medical insurance.

I'm surprised you don't agree with me Duke. You're sounding awfully partisan. I can't imagine anyone who would disagree that medical costs are way out of line and nobody in DC seems to be addressing that issue. Fuck insurance...Make healthcare costs reasonable and I won't need insurance as I take care of my body and health. I eat well, I exercise, I'm med free at 51 years of age. If helath care costs were reasonable, I'd pay cash on the very few occasions that I need to go see a doc.

Firthermore, I'd even entertain being behind ObamaCare, but I have issues with a warmonger such as him taking my dollars to kill brown people and then taking my dollars to force me to have insurance. Stop killing people and maintaining an Empire and take care of your people back home Obama and you might have this man's support....Until then...FUCK OFF JACKHOLE....I will not vote for you and I will do whatever I can to get you out of office.
the individual mandate was the first step. other provisions in the PPACA force the insurance industry to eventually cut down the out of control administrative costs to 20%. also, being unable to drop those who get sick or deny those with pre-existing conditions should help control costs by getting rid of the people whose sole job it is to find reasons to drop you.

you are right, we should take the profit motive out of healthcare and negotiate costs on a yearly basis as they do in the german model. the insurance companies there are non-profit, yet still compete fiercely for business as it is not in their best interests to go out of business.

i, however, would like to see a single payer system implemented, but that is too socialistic for americans. it is about as realistic as ron paul winning anything outside of tx-14 or a world's best grandpa mug.

Here's the gig UB...

I, as a "conservative" am a reasonable man. I understand compromise. I understand the role of the Federal Government. So let's talk compromise....Want me to support a health care bill? Fine...Withdraw our bases from sovereign nations. Stop killing people overseas in the name of "Freedom and Democracy". Withdraw aid to Israel and the Palestinians (we're playing both sides so that we can maintain instability). Shutdown subsidies to Big Oil...for starters.

And show me a health care bill that rewards people like myself who go to great lengths to take care of our bodies (other than I fuck like the devil and can run up mountains....LOL). As it stands, I see no benefit from eating clean and exercising over Joe "Six-Pack" who takes his family to McDonalds every night for dinner and they wonder why they're insulin dependent and on blood pressure medications...Know what I mean?

I can't speak to the entire tea party but it seems to me that they don't really understand the ideology they support.

The ones who think that we're moving toward socialism are off. We're certainly further from socialism today then we were when those people were children. We used to have a more progressive income tax, we used to regulate banks, we used to have more protectionist trade policies. Nixon was more a socialist than Obama.

The ones who think that the policies they support are the same ones our founders supported are wrong. Our founders were not free traders and they didn't allow corporations to grow into giant international companies. They had no problems regulating business or slapping tariffs on goods.

Even the moniker "Tea Party" in reference to the Boston tea party is wrong. It was more a sabotage of the East India Trading Company's plan to vertically integrate it's tea business than it was a protest against taxes. The tea party position on corporatism seems to change from person to person, but when fox news reports on them, they seem like a bunch of big business loving fools. Ironic.

I'm not necessarily against the Tea Party. A lot of Ron Paul supporters consider themselves tea party, and that segment, I like. They're wrong about neoliberalism, but that's a difference I can accept. It's history revisionist part that I detest.

I read quite a bit of the bill when it first came out. It's been awhile, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall a section where the bill disallows insurance underwriters from competing across state lines. So, an underwriter with good rates doing business in Kansas could not open an office and do business in Ohio...

Dontcha just love Federal regulation? ;) **grin**

done and done.

i see the need for keeping a worldwide presence, just not as domineering as we have now.

and i think private health insurance companies could do a fine job at scanning applicants and offering rates accordingly. no problem with that.

now that pre-existing conditions are not making it damn near impossible to obtain insurance, crossing state lines is fine with me.

previously, they could have just cherry picked from each states, making it even tougher for someone like my wife to obtain insurance.

but crossing state lines and tort reform would have been damn near meaningless long term solutions, even though that's all the righties could think of during the PPACA debate.

My wife is a Business analyst with one of the top three health insurance providers in the Country
1 your state commissioner of insurance writes the rules. A policy has to be written to account for laws in 50 states that are different
2 Insurance companys want to be able to sell across state lines so they can go to the state with laws the insurance company can write. (ever wonder why most credit card companys are in maryland?)
3 Nothing stops Insurance companies now from opening up offices and selling insurance. They just have to go by whatever states laws they are in

And Texas has had Tort reform for several years
- their insurance premiums are still going up
- shitty doctors flock to Texas
