Not to doubt you on this but... do you got a source for that?
I just did a quick google search... only thing I could find was a site that was obviously anti-marijuana saying "see its not as safe as everyone says" and then talks about a German research project or something where it examined 15 peoples deaths attributed to MJ and in all but 2 cases found to be something else..
For the two cases they found, one 23 yr old and 28 yr old.
The 23 year old "
had a serious undetected heart problem"
and the 28 year old "
had a history of drug and alcohol abuse"
“To our knowledge, these are the first cases of suspected fatal cannabis intoxications where full post-mortem investigations… were carried out,” researchers said in the study, published in Forensic Science International this month. “After exclusion of other causes of death we assume that the young men experienced fatal cardiovascular complications evoked by smoking cannabis
Although this article didnt mention anything about bud rot or mold or anything so I dont know if these were the deaths you were referring to.
Heres the article I was reading from
https://time.com/10372/marijuana-deaths-german-study/
TBH I did not search past the first 5 or so
results on google for your sentence of "two deaths from smoking cannabis were from smoking rotten bud"
Not trying to call you out or anything like that, Im genuinely very curious to read about this.
An interesting article I found while looking through the results was this on the different types of molds found in cannabis, and a couple details about people getting pneumonia or certain lung infections and stuff, but nothing I saw about deaths, and everyone had some sort of underlying condition such as asthma or heart conditions.

It’s not simply a compromised aesthetic or unexpected flavor jolt – moldy cannabis can conceal serious health risks.
