What is wrong with my girls?

So I have a couple of questions about these plants. As you see in the photo some of the leaves have dying spots on them. I checked the sticky's and I'm thinking maybe magnesium or ph.(do I check the water ph or the soil?) Not sure so I thought I would ask. Also the newer stems on the plants are turning red. The have been this way for awhile. Anything I should be concerned about? One more thing. I am trying the SOG. I clone, transplant once I see roots(out of the peat pellets), and then let them veg for 2 weeks before going into the budding chamber. The plant pictured is about to go in with in the next week. Is a 4x4 inch container too small? Maybe I should go with something bigger.

Thanks

P.s. -- Most of the lower fan leaves on my clones die and fall off just before or after going into the bud box.

my guess is ph fluctuation, check the mix you're using to water it, and check the runoff also..

you could try giving it a good flush with ph adjusted water, until the runoff matches the ph of your mix..

I've got the same problem with some of mine, I'm waiting for an anwser too. Does it start off with some light green spots on the leaves, then the light green turns to brown? Mine are growing alright despite some brown spots caused by this. I've checked the PH and it's about 6.5 and has always been the same, so it's not that.

I never fed them anyway, there in normal soil and I was waiting for the seedling leaves to fall off before I fed them. I think it might be heat stress though, my grow space was at 30C for a while and I had the light close to the plants, I've fixed it now and they don't seem to be getting any worse.

I looked at that entire guide and a lot of the problems have the same symptoms. I will check the ph level as soon as I get a meter. A cheapo from the hardware store? Also I am noticing that the leaves are drying out a bit and turning papery. Added a few pictures..Sorry about the blury one. Are the red stems normal? Mother plant has that too. Also do you think the 4x4 pots are enough to go through the SOG with? Thanks for all the great information :-)

So I got a soil testing kit. The one with the little tubes and capsules. I put the soil in and used the water I have been watering the ladies with and it come up with a ph of around 7. Seems to me that is a good ph level. m I right? Is there a tester that comes in the form of a meter. Something to just dip in the water? These tubes suck. The kit came with N, P, and K test tubes as well. I'm going to check those.

ph of 7 i think is neutral just where it should be now move to the next most obvious cause..hate to say this, has to be a process of elimination at times

I am now thinking that they just need a dose of everything. I didn't change the dirt on all of them last time. Not sure though. I'm getting the green veins now. Even my mother plant who has been in the miracle gro time release dirt for about 6 months is showing the dark veins and lighter rest of the leave. Magnesium right? Just seems maybe I should be starting with something fresher for dirt. Should I try the Epsom salt first?

So I checked the ph of my water both before and after going through the pot. Before was 6.8 and after was 7.2. Gave half of my small vegging plants a watering with 2 tbsp. of epsom salt per gallon H2O. The other half I used regular water. Can definitely see a mag def in the mothers so I gave them a watering with it too. I will let everyone know how it turns out. Could anyone answer my question about whether or not 4x4 pots are enough for the SOG method?

Thanks

fox farms is best but out of that list...

...remember 2 things-1-you need miniscule amounts-forget the label recomendations
2-the higher the NPK concentrations, i.e. higher the 1-1-1 the less you needs. serioulsy, you need a tad. this stuff can burn.
