What is wrong with these?

Planted in a mix of

Perlite
Promix potting mix - http://www.promixfindgrowtopia.com/product/detail/pro-mix-ultimate-potting-mix
Worm Castings
Top soil
Peat Moss

Soil drys in about 3 days and drains from the bottom of the 3/4 gallon pot when watering. I water till a 20% runoff.

I'm pretty sure i was overwatering during the first week or two on the one plant but stopped and let them dry out real nice.

After the initial overwater I started watering every 3 days (soil dryed out nice in-between) and after that did a full flush as i was getting the clawed leaves.

After the flush i waited another 3 days and watered again but then left for vacation for 7 days. I put the pots in about an inch of water in a tray which was totally dryed up when i got home. When i returned the plants looked like this. I cut off the bottom two 'single' leaves on both plants as they turned brown and i cut one totally fucked up twisted almost heat burned looking leaf off one.

These are about 3 weeks from germination in soil.

Soil PH is about 7 ( from the runoff) which is same PH as the tap water. I recently got some ph up and down from general hydro but have only used it during the past two watering to try and lower the ph.

These are growing under 9 CFLs.

6 - 23w-25w 6500k mini cfl
2 - 43w 4000K cfl
1 - 43w 2700k cfl

Anyway - they grey pretty well during the week when i was away but when i came back they had some serious issues including the browing and the light green between the veins which seems to have started from the edges.

I gave them a first 1ml dose of biobizz biogrow last night and foliar sprayed the leaves tonight with a 1/4tsp of epson salt to a liter of water. i let folliage dry once in-between and resprayed a second time. I did this as the plants looks to have multiple deficiencies.

Anyway, the new growth keeps comming so they seem to be doing alright. Just wondering how i can get them to look even half decent as to me they look like total shit.

Nutrient overdose (too much , too early at that stage of growth you should be giving the plant a good root stimmulator during the gremination and seedling stage of development -claw leaves means nitrogen toxicity

I didn't add any nitrogen at all until last night. The base soil was .25 .25 .25 N-P-K and the worm castings .5-.5-.5. The roots are grown pretty well as i can see them in the bottom of the pot and if i poke a hole in the soil you can hear the poker hitting the roots.

Shouldn't the leaves be dark green if its nitrogen toxicity?

i agree with harris hawk about nutrient burn. the plant were too young for nutes especially when using worm castings.
the castings are good to use as a supplement but they do contain a good bit of nitrogen. i always mix a bit of castings to my potting soil but i use it on close to the bottom of the pot.

I agree with Po and Harris. Its nute burn, not really nitrogen tox. I don't give any food until about day 30-40 from sprout. Hold off on feeding it anything else, even foliar feedings for a week or two. Just give water when its needed.

Edit: Also it looks over watered, try going 5 days or until the pot is feels light.

Fair enough. I guess ill just forget about them for 4 or 5 days. I just went and flushed them all out so hopefully that gets rid of the shit i added last night. I suspose next time ill go lighter on the worm castings or not add them at all until i re-pot.

Good luck, I hope it recovers. I know its hard to do, but most new growers kill there plants with kindness. Just try to do a bit less, and keep in mind that for the most part, the plant can and will grow on its own with just light and water. Anything more then that is just extra, less is more in most cases. Once you get a few more grows under your belt, you will be able to read the plant and give it what it needs when it needs it. Just learn from this and work at doing better each time.

My plants looked exactly like yours couple years ago. I couldn't figure out what was wrong.

It was my watering schedule. I would do exactly like you. Let them go dry to the bone then flush and flood then with nutrients or just plain water. No plant likes to go dry in between waterings but cactuses. Look where your plant comes from that should tell you the environment. Consistent light moisture. Mulch and Fabric pots changed the game for me in this respect.

Castings can not burn plants. I have grown a plant in 50% castings and rice hulls. water only. It's my best friends favorite smoke. They are the best thing you can give your plants.

I would add a couple inches of castings on the top with some kelp or alfalfa or go to the store and get some bobs red mill semolin flour or flax seed meal. Stir in a couple teaspoons with the castings and you will do nothing hut 2ater only for the next few weeks.

Thanks. After that first biogrow feed, I flushed the smaller plant with about 5 times the container size in tap water. The other one I didn't flush at all. The one that I didn't flush is rebounding nice, the leaves have picked up and its starting to look good again. the other one is still dropping and kind of crap.

I changed the light setup a bit, moved the fan so it wasn't hitting the plants directly and flipped to a 18/6 light cycle from a 24/0. Hopefully the little one will keep growing. I picked up a bottle of bioroot and will mix that into my next watering as per harris' advice. and will skipp the nutes for another couple of weeks - even though they seem to have helped the big one (could just be a coincidence)

The one you didn't flush is doing better because flushing after adding to much nutes doesn't help at all, makes things worse.

Someone needs to make a definitive grow guide cause I've read on numerous sites / forums that if you spike your plants, you flush them with ph'd water. I will say one thing, toxic or not, these plants are at no risk of dying they are indeed - weeds. I just hope they end up budding in when i start the flower in month or so from now.
