What is WRONG with this ?

So I'm on day 11 and going through a couple problems. I have a 400w HPS light and doing Hydro(flood/drain). I have two cubes and 7 babies on them. 4 Sour Stars on one and 3 random dank seeds on the other. One of the problems I found out what was wrong. The really yellow looking plant I think had a lack of nitrogen and stunt its growth. I'm pretty sure it was from the cube being too wet. I dried it out and the plant made a little come back, had more green in it's leaves. But not much. Should I just toss the baby? I just thought because of the stress it had the deal with there was probably a good possibility it turn male from stress. As you can tell from the other picture, its supposed to look like the other Sour Star. The next part is the blob looking plant. I found a fat seed one time in one of my good jars and I planted it. So far its just grown into a mutated blob of leaves. I REALLY don't think I had anything to do with the way I planted it, but I am not sure. It has had new growth and can't tell if there is any deficiency, but I don't know. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it. AND ANY INSIGHT ON ANYTHING I AM ALWAYS OPEN EARS. Also, I was thinking of switching to Fox Farms for my farm, Likes or Dislikes?

wow dude... really read those STICKY's first... you got so many mistakes groing this, it's hard to know where to start.......

for one, switch to fluorescent lighting.. second, hold off on the flood/drain technique but rather stick to regular watering... and yes, Fox Farms is good

I guess I can read those sticky's but.... what's all the mistakes? Why would I switch to fluorescent now, wouldn't that cause the plants stress switching the lights like that. I would think it would stunt it's growth, but I am not sure. I understand people start with fluorescent for the first 2 weeks or so. I have not used fluorescent to start from before. The times I haven't I hadn't any more more problems than I did with starting with fluorescent. I wasn't going to start the flood/drain system for a couple more weeks(hand feeding), but thanks for the advice.
Any More Advice Anyone?

Oh dear. You're new, aren't you?

Sigh. First things first, I'm going to repeat what Tommy said, in case you ignored it.

READ THE STICKIES. Do your homework first before you get started. The idea of learning as you go is a bad one. I mean, everyone makes mistakes, but in these days of MJ forums all over the place, chances are good you can find the info you need to AVOID mistakes.

And for free.

Fox Farms is okay. I'm an AN person, myself.

Yes, change your lighting a bit.

Stop making your grow so difficult. Basic watering schedules work. Doing things that seem fancy, especially at first, will just bring you pain and misery. Keep it simple. very simple at first. Learn how the plants work and then slowly add on new techniques, new nutes, new everything.

Right now, my best guess is that you'll rebound, but when it comes to plant losses, don't get too attached. Sometimes plants just die. And you can't explain it.

Make sure your environment is good, your nutes are better, and your strategy is simple. And you'll be fine.:joint:

How close are you lights?? Seems that you have too much light too close, invest in a few cfl bulds and bring back the HPS later in the grow. Don't toss anything yet, if the new groth continues to show problems over the next 10 days or so then toss and start over. The blob plant may just be the start of a weak plant from a weak seed; you never really know what you'll get from bag seed.

100% agreed !!!!

People need to understand - keep is simple ! A lot of plants grow without ANYTHING extra out there in the wild. Although the nutrients and other techniques provide a better yield (usually), keeping it simple keeps the plant happy and less confused and less shocked. Just follow the basic outlines and your babies should start to grow.

Also, this looks like it's not your first grow.... I guess you didn't learn anything from your first mistakes... time to muster up some patience and really go through those sticky's about the basics of growing. Good luck dude.

Gotsmoked how far is your 600 hps from those seedlings? whats your light cycle?how wet are u keeping the rockwool ?fans blowing on them directly ?u might be keeping your rockwool to wet and i think your light is to close the the seedlings. going by what im seeing in your 2nd pic your plant looks to be transpiring way to much hence the dry crusty leaves, if this is the case then your best bet is to move the light further away because the more light intensity the more your plants transpire especially with such a big light on those small babys , make sure your fan isnt blowing directly on them and try to keep your humidity up.Look up transpiration and photosynthesis. i have no experience with your setup im a dwc/coco drain to waste kinda guy.

Thank You for your help Everyone. I will look at those stickys too. I have a 400w HPS light that is two feet away from the plants. Light cycle 18/6. I keep the rockwool damp; I had a problem earlier with it being too wet but fixed the problem. I believe thats why that one plant is like that. I have fans the shift from side to side so the plants aren't in direct wind. I just started them on nutrients too, 1/16 strength. Will move it too 1/8 strenght by the end of this next week. Thanks for all the imput. I would like to hear more from anyone ANYTIME. THANKS.

if your having problems germin in rockwool then germ in soil and once they have grown 2 inches tall transplant them into rockwool.
