and on the same sorta note.... i recently had 3/4 a batch of clones go face up on me and when i was inspecting them for roots i noticed this clear gelatinous slime in all the big air pockets in the root riot cube? i assume this is some sorta bacterial colony? i dip my clones in great white after clonex I was assuming this was the offender in this situation but now I'm not so sure?
You're dealing with Cyanobacteria, which is in some tap water. For me, it comes and goes. Never heard of it forming inside riot cubes, but I guess it could happen since they don't dry out. I sometimes get it on clones, airstone/hose in my cloner, and on roots of transplants (dwc). Some people battle it with bennies, I just keep my cloner and shit clean until it passes. I don't know how you would deal with it since peroxide doesn't really help, and you're using cubes. I use a spray bottle and spray the slime off the rooted and unrooted clones. Some people deal with it year round, for me it's only a couple times a year for about a week (knock on wood). You could try breeding bennies, or buy a gallon of aquashield and try that, or maybe some dutchmaster zone. Other than those, I'm at a blank. Good luck.

i just got my RO system all hooked up so I'm hoping to be off the tap water here soon. I'm gonna finish this round in flower out before i make the switch just so theres no unwanted consequences.

Yes i have planted them and so far its 3/4 are doing great with 1 big time straggler that i just had to cut out of its shell today. looks pretty solid and white still so I'm not holding my breath that its gonna make it.

ya i was wondering if it was the great white or what, i went out and bout an ez cloner so no more issues there!

like in your AC? my old in the wall unit i used to use had goobers hanging down where the water would drip of some gross clear gunk.

come to think my portable has needed its hoses flushed out a couple times too and usually a nice big clear goober comes out.

yummy, ya its about the same consistency too.

We always just called it slime mold but it's nice to know what it really is now.

Good luck! :D your awesome hgk
Thanks, i get called a lot of things and awesome isn't usually one of them!

so now that i know the name of the offender (the clear goop) I've been realizing it might be everywhere.... the other day my fiancé asked me why i put so much hand sanitizer on the shower knob lol... i think i know what she was seeing now!

whats the major cause behind this stuff colonizing? conditions is my guess?

I'm thinking one of these sour kosher seeds might of had an accident when it germed maybe? (The white semen stuff) 1/4 is really having a hard time and has been since day one... could if of had some sort of infection that got into the cup?

i think i might take 15 cups or so and just put water in them all and put them back in the box to see if i can recreate it without seeds. that would be nice to know if its just my air here or what. this house is definitely the most microbe active house I've ever lived in thats for sure.

pythium-

its in the air.
Pythium isn't bacteria and it doesn't make slime, it's from cyanobacteria. Some instances of it could be airborne, but the stuff hgk is dealing with is most likely already in the water. He could use fish Erythromycin, which is an antibiotic, but you gotta be careful with that stuff because the bacteria can build a resistance to it, making it super bacteria. The other stuff I mentioned earlier should help too.

I had the same thing , it was a thrip ,
As I pulled the seed (4 days after planting ) to see what the hell was gokng on, a thrip crawled out of the seed, which was trying it’s hardest to push a root and stem out , so I peeled the shell of gently , and it had eaten the inside , little bastard , it was thick white goo
