what kind of light should i use 1st time

first time growing needed 2 kno what kind of light i should use for about 4 plants in a closet

Do some research man.. there is SOOO much information by just using the search button.. or going on grow journals.. and looking at what people have.. you should find a grow journal from somone that only has a few plants.. see what lights they use.

It really depends on Space, availability of fresh air, safty, heat... etc.. you need to choose the light thats suit your grow environment...

But if your a newbie.. and growing in like a closet or somthing i would go with like 4-6 100watt + CFL's.... and buy some decent soil.. like FOXFARM and PH your water (most important) and you should be set.

keep it simple and just use a 250-400watt grow light that takes both mh and hps bulbs but you will need and extractor fan to suck out excess heat and humidity and a intake fan and a oscilating fan but it really does depend on the size of ya closet!you can use a 250-400 watt mh light for seedlings as long as its atleast 2feet above um and after a week you can lower it bit by bit and when ya plants are good and strong you can have the light nomore than about 10-12inches above um safely.

get a digital switchable ballast then use the mh for veg and the hps bulb for flower.You can start the plants under an $8 4 foot shop light and actually veg under it but need lots more light for flower..FilthyFletch

What are the dimensions of the closet? Is it or can it be vented?

nah its not vented but i can keep tha door open with a window open about 10 feet from it with a fan on

I would try to run at least a 250w HID if you can keep temps down. If its at least a 3x3 you could get away with a 400 I bet.Maybe even a 2x3 would be fine.
