like we all said for your budget cmh is the bet way to go. It has a full spectrum, higher par and higher cri than hps and led.

cmh bulb last 2-3 times longer than hps. Because cmh use a ceramic arc and are quartz crystal coated and hps use an aluminum arc.

for led diy cob led's is the best way to go with cree cxa cobs

The cmh bulb will put out as much heat as a true 300 watt led but be cheaper than even a chinese 600 watt which would be around 300watts at the plug. You will be paying 500 plus for 300 watts of quality Led. A 250 watt hps would be a little less heat and probably enough for a single plant. The cmh would give you a better yield.

Dude you are asking to buy a light that is MUCH more advanced than a HPS/CMH light, these lights are MUCH more efficient when it comes to electrical usage, PAR reads are about double (if you have 160 watts of high quality LEDs it is worth double or 320w of HID lighting), produce MUCH less heat, and burn out MUCH slower. Expecting to pay an equal amount wouldn't make sense you will pay a lot more upfront costs buying LEDs than with HID. And btw CMH lights produce just about the same amount of heat that a HPS would of equal wattage.

I run the onyx in a 34 x 34 inch space. I think that is optimal footprint...maybe even a.little big for it. I'm saving my quarters at the moment to add additional lighting.

Still very very happy with the light, but wI'll most likely add another light next run. My 2cents

There are new led lights that are relatively cheap, the griffins. There bigger model, the peter, rocks. The smaller ones, stewies, are good too. It's a family company ran by some guy. But really, why ask if you're going to get the crap people are telling you not to buy?

I would believe the people from this thread before I would believe amazon propaganda. You aren't going to get much for $150. If you want a crap shoot, maybe you will get lucky with a cheap China one but don't hold your breath. You need to rethink your possibilities for that much money and coverage. Good luck to you.

Those are epistar multichips.

You can get 100W (10 parallel strings of 10 chips rated at 1W each) epistar multichips on amazon for like 10 bucks now. A few users have actually reported success underdriving the epistar multichips.

The one from the first link is likely overdriven and undercooled. Es no good mang.

I do have my eye on those epistar multichips though. For the price, it's enticing, especially since you can get it in red., not just white.

Believe me I take you LED growers opinions much into account. But I am a bargain shopper, and I just posted another series of links that i thought we're better products to buy, and i just asked if those were different from the ones I mentioned above.
Captain- Please don't jump to conclusions, I have done quite of bit of personal research on various forums, and countless comparison videos.
I mean it really isn't my fault so many LED makers are fraudulent with their claims. I might just get a quality UFO for a single plant and just hell with it, until i get enough for a 1000w hps equivalent LED>

If your thinking about going cheap ufo route,I suggest you try home depot Cree bulbs first. Better efficiencies and flexible lighting positions are great for one plant.

Then save up all your change for an at 600 ;-)
