What lighting is best for yeilds ?

I love quality leds but if your in a cold climate go with something that kicks out some radiant heat or you may end up paying to heat a room.
Never used DE 1000w but you have the space for it. Or 630w cmh.

Like I say I am a huge fan of LED, Quantum boards, COBs ect but it isn't right for every situation.

As yet another devotee to LED technology, I nevertheless concur with @coreywebster and others who point out that if you need to heat your room while the lights are on, you're better off with the older stuff. That said, I'm in the chilly NW and I have 400+ watts of EB strips on a 2' x 4' scrog and have to vent heat on even the coldest days, so I'd do the calcs for your heating requirements before making a purchasing decision.

this sales rep is claiming they are bin AZ . Which is top bin if you go to a site like digikey you can view pdf from manufacturer for reference

I’m thinking about using quantum for veg since you cannot beat node spacing from led

They could well be AZ bin and I never took into account if that price is for a 300w board or full kit with heatsink and driver.
Im currently looking to replace a busted driver for a 260w kit, the price for just the driver is £60-70.

I agree LED can give great node spacing but so can MH or CMH.

I can give you a tiny example of temp rise in my small tent.
260w QB kit, maxes out at 280w with a 80w tube heater and a 4" extraction fan which I split between two tents, so its half power, then reduced to half power by variable transformer and I still only get 4-5 degree rise from ambient. I think I worked out my air exchange as something like 23cfm per tent. When summer comes I will be golden, but right now I would like a few degrees higher. Plants take it fine luckily.

What lights are you upgrading from?

He filled a nice sized room with hlg 550s

He's running a very clean and smooth op by the looks of things.

He has a journal with lots of info and pics of his setup. Can't remember the price he paid exactly, but I think he spent 25-30k??? Don't really remember.

That's quite a bit. The China boards are the exact same but shipping is what kills it. If you order bulk then it's worth it.

As I said, I'm not really sure what his end total was, may have been much less, but he has a pretty sick room filled with 550s and is absolutely killing it lol

check out his journal, one of the cleanest rooms that size I've seen

Ya the Chinese are cheaper, but the hlg quality is second to none and their customer service is top notch, if money isn't an issue I think anyone would be silly going the Chinese route over the America hlg route.

They're the exact same quality. All the components come from the same place. Ive heard nothing but good things about Meijiu. I can't comment on CS of either company but I don't see a scenario where it makes up for 15k + difference.

I honestly wouldnt go for QBs In this type of setup regardless though. I'd take advantage of those high ceilings.

The 550 V2's run around $1095 each. I think I got a bulk discount, and got it down to $749 a unit. These do have the latest Samsung 301b chips in them, and are dimmable. Running 18 of these, my highest electric bill was $678 for a full 30 days on a 18/6 schedule. This includes 2 industrial fans, a wind curtain at the door entry, a dehumidifier, a 2 ton Carrier mini split for heat/A/C, 1265cmf Hyperfan, AND my 1800 sq ft residence. That was on the first run going into winter. The current run going now, highest electric bill was $573 for March billing cycle, and we just flipped to 12/12 on Sunday. We got about a gram a true watt on the first run.Thanks for the props @diggs99 !

For largish rooms full of QB550s check out Grand master level on you tube.
Please don't quote me but on one of his latest shows I think he mentioned 4 a light. @Stephenj37826 (also known as Santa clause :clap:) may know if I'm recalling correctly. I was smoking a nice fatty at the time...

Unfortunalty QB are expensive, followed by decent CMH. HPS is just so affordable.

And how many watts are you running? I thought 1g/watt wasnt something you needed LEDs for...

Thing about comparing yields between different lighting is yield per sqft should be the metric. Since LED users put less watts in a sqft, 1 gram per watt of LED would be less yield than 1 gram per watt of HPS.
