What lighting to use for a few plants

I was wondering what would be the best type of light, and the wattage for a small number of plants(about 5). I'm willing to put some money into it but preferably not too much. I've done some research and I am having a hard time determining this, considering most websites are referring to larger amounts of plants.

2800W inside 4x8x7. That's 12.5w/cu ft. @ 84 degrees. That's with 400CFM of intake air and 400cfm exhausting at the same time. That's what I'm dealing with.

But, if I only run 1 1000w with 6" vented hood and my 400cfm exhaust, I run at about 71F. or about 4.5w/cu ft.

Get me the dementions and I will let you know what you will probably end up doing to make it work :)

For starting these 5 plants, fluorescent lighting like high output T5's is fine for starting seeds and the first few weeks of growth. Then it depends, not just how big your room is but also how large you want the plants to be: how long you want to veg them for. A lot of growers change the lighting throughout the course of the grow. For example, a 400 watt HPS by flowering should cover 4 plants 2 to 3' tall.
