What Lights in your veg room?

Drop That Sound

T-12 , T-8, T-5, UVB t-5 for reptiles, Blurple LED, Cob LED, Screw in LED, no LED LED, MH, CMH..

I think the only thing I don't have to grow with is plasma..

As to why I use that light? Cost per lumen, heat created, and foorprint of the actual light
Any experience to the SE vs the SF? I went with the se because the more even distribution and runs cooler. But I don’t know I heard the SF was better for veg for some reason I don’t know

What led fixtures you guys use?
Szhlux 2x2 400 watt LED in a 2x4 ft grow tent. I'm running it at 50% power most of the grow. It does put off heat. But the spread is great.
Lenin 1917 is great also. I did the same to stay in budget for a while. Worked fine.

I have the HLG130 B-spec for my 2X2 veg closet and a HLG-330 R-spec for my 3X2 flower closet. I've been running them since late 2019 and love them. Compared to replacing my HPS bulb every 6 months to a year they've actually saved money on both electricity and replacement bulbs while also increasing my yields.

Unless the drivers die, I'll likely just replace the boards once they drop enough diodes to worry about it. That will likely give upwards of 5-7 years on the lights with minimal replacement of diodes. I did burn like 5 of my flower light diodes out running them at full power, but until a board starts showing serious loss of diodes I'll just keep running them unless I see a noticable drop in yield.

The only addition I might consider is adding some UV supplementation in flower to increase trich production and as a mold prevention measure.

I use the SF2000 in a 2 x 4 tent. It definitely packs enough of a punch to vegetate in a tent of that size. It also has a dimmer which is cool.

I like T5s regardless of their inefficiency they create nice growth and give off some heat which I need most of the year.

As it happens I changed from t5 to led only last week, to equal intensity of 96w of t5 I need 35w of led that said the temps are barely above ambient at 21/22c.

If I bought another pure veg light it would be 6k, 4k lacks that kick ass blue.

I should make my definition of a veg room clear

It keeps a perpetual grow going for peanuts.
If I use a 480w LED to keep a seperate veg tent going & just keep it at 35-40% dimming... does that mean its only using 35-40% of the total power? Trying to figure out if I can afford a perpetual grow lol

Yes that's correct it's only using 35/40% of the power.

You can buy a small tent for £50 they don't need much light for the footprint and they're easy to heat, I only need 100w during winter.

What size is the tent you have?

Well I've got one 4x4 right now using a fc4800. Looking to get another tent so i can do 2 veg / 2 flower perpetual. I would get a smaller 2nd tent for veg but my second light is also a FC4800, so its too big for a small tent.

You can fit one in a 3x3, it’ll take up the whole ceiling but it’ll fit lol, probably wouldn’t have to run it any higher than 50% either

Question on the HLG r-spec…..what height do you run that during flower?? And do you increase intensity as you get further into flower??
I have the 320XL r-spec and just flipped my photos to 12/12. I vegged them at about 24-26” from the canopy set at roughly 70% intensity.
I was hoping someone with basically the same light could give me some pointers.

Anybody familiar with the mix joy gl4000? It’s basically a spider farmer sf4000 clone but I have one of those and a KIND K5 XL1000 planning on using the mixjoy for veg and a spider farmer se5000 I ordered for my flower.

So a clone of a clone, lol. The sf4000 is a clone of HLG lights.
