I cannot really offer an opinion on that and certainly not 'advise' on mainlining. I have never done a grow like that. But there are a lot of growerz here that are big time into it. I can only suggest seeking them out.

Please do not take anyone's advice and just run with it. One of the best parts of cultivating your own budz is that you get to control how you want to do it...not how someone else would do it.

(1) plant mainlined with 8 tops would likely fill the canopy nicely if you did it correctly before it got too big in veg. If you have 8' ceiling and you use 16" of space with hps hood & hangers, then allow 18-24" of distance between your light and the top of the canopy -that leaves you with approx 5' of grow height. Keep in mind your plants will likely double in height (if not more) when they go into 12/12. This leaves you at about 24"-30" tall plants in veg just before flip to stay in the confines of your headspace.
