Dude... Did you even read my response? Anybody who grows anything knows that it starts from a seed. You aren't teaching anybody anything new in saying that. Yes that is the basics of growing, but every "seed" is different. Ideally you will grow out a handful of seeds wait until they are big enough to take cuttings from. Once you take your two - three cuttings, you can take the original and flower it. This will allow you to determine which of the plants are males and which ones grow to be the healthiest. As you determine the sex you can kill off the males and any cuttings you have taken from it. Once you find the plant that is the best, (the chosen plant) you can grow your new mothers from those clones you took early on, with NO GENETIC DETERIORATION what-so-ever. So yea you can grow out a mother from a seed, but you're not necessaraly going to see the best you could have, you're delaying your grow time by having to germinate a new mother every time, and you're running the risk of doing all that work only to find out the plant was male. Regardless, if you find a great plant (that was started from a seed) that produces an amazing product... eventually you will need to replace the mother anyway if you want to keep the genetics going right? What is the only way to keep a plants genetics going????? BY CLONING THE BITCH! I put that in as elementary terms as I could. It's not about how much time it takes to grow out a seed man, it's WHAT MAKES THE BEST MOTHER... ANd taking clones from a plant that was grown from seed, is best. It's not a debate, that is just the bottom line.... ANyone after this that wants to debate t or whatever is just waisting time....I was born and raised in Humboldt, for those of you that are thinking i dont know what I am talkin about and I GUARNTEE I KNOW A LOT MORE ABOUT GROWING HERB than 99% of the people on here.... One more time for the slow kid in the back... A clone taken from a plant grown from a seed, would be exactly the same as a clone taken from a previous clone of the initial plant. Here, I will even give you a diagram... A ---> B ---> C (simple) A is your mother plant grown from a seed. B is a clone taken from A. Now say you grow B to become your new mother plant. Now you take a cutting from B and get C as your new clone. Your new clone "C" is 100% genetically the same as "A" was. I don't understand how you can't understand. That is why they call it a clone man.
if anyone is confused i can use an example. say i grow ONE seed(call it S1). it turns out to be a female plant after a month of vegetive cycle. i want to make clones to keep the genetics of this S1 plant that i have.
should i....
A)take clones from this original S1 plant(since it was grown from seed)and continue to do this for a year or so, keeping it as my MOTHER PLANT(plant that is a source for clones)and continually take clones from S1 every 2 weeks
OR
B)take ONE clone(call it C1) from this S1 and completely DISCARD THE original S1(THE FIRST PLANT I GREW FROM SEED IN THE BEGINNING) take the C1 that i just rooted, grow it for about a month until its well established, then take multiple clones from it and keep it around for a year or so as a MOTHER PLANT(SOURCE OF CLONES).
