What plastics should I use for my greenhouse :)

Hey guys I just moved to South-Central Oregon and was wondering what type of material I should use for my light greenhouse so that I can grow potent buds during the winter/fall? I'm about 4000 ft up in elevation so its a little drier. So the main question is what covering I should use? And if I should double poly it with air circulating in between them? Diffuse Material? And if during the summertimes when it gets hot would it be possible to keep the plastics as they were in winter but use an exhaust fan/vents to help with the airflow. I'm also debating if I should also look into sealing the greenhouse as best as I could to contain the solar gain and supplement with a few lights and co2 during the winter/fall times. All this talk about mold has me nervous so it would be nice to have your guys opinion.

I just use plastic to keep rain off my plants in the fall. I use a 6mm plastic and it seems to be a good balance of strength while not blocking too much light. I haven't tried using 2 layers of plastic. I leave the ends of the greenhouse open so it lets plenty of airflow through. I tried enclosing them and the humidity because outrageous and I'm in a dry climate.

You could go all out and add ventilation fans and enclose it, I just never felt the need for it and prefer it being open on the ends. You can keep the plastic all year round but it does wear a bit. I hit mine with the odd wayward throw of my dogs ball and just putting it onto your greenhouse is hard to do without poking or tearing a bit somewhere. I've had to put tape over a spot or two. I have to take my plastic off after harvest or the weight of snowfall will ruin my greenhouse for next year.

I wouldn't be adding lights to an outdoor greenhouse just because they likely wouldn't be safe.

Careful of using cheap transparent stuff, the Uv eats it up, especially at altitude.

Here's the strange thing.....Commercial farm plastic covering is 6 mil. and often rated for UV resistance, in that it will often last for several years. It contains UV inhibitors.
But does that mean It blocks more essential UV to your plants ?
You would think so.............but then you wouldn't think-so, because commercial produce farmers use it - and they also want (need) a good healthy crop.

I bought a greenhouse kit once, 5x8 feet. It was a bolt-together type, with a door and benches.
It lasted me more than 10 years, and I re-assembled it several times as I moved.

Redwood structure, and wavy shaped ( corrugated) translucent fiberglass.
A more expensive option was dual sandwiched poly ribbed panels.
I was growing orchids and tropicals at the time.
It was kinda 'cool', because it came with a ventilation fan, and automatic motor temp control.
Mine was from somewhere in Santa Barbara.
There are many other greenhouse kits..
Or just look at their examples, and build your own ?

Thank you so much for the link it definitely help me decide what I wanted! I'm looking at this since it seems to do everything I need. It apparently diffuses sunlight, correct me if I'm wrong but that should spread the sunlight more evenly and helps the plant not to stress out with hot spots. It helps with the condensation and also retains more heat (which is great for the colder season which is basically anytime that isn't summer.

Use wire or make your greenhouse impentetrable fucking rippers will cut your plastic. I hate them so much they steal everything. So use your plastic but reinforce itQ!!!!

I used 54 inch wire cattle panels and then PVC hoop top. I also put electric fence in part way up the hoop so if you were to cut the plastic... neat little surprise... LOL.... pad lock the front, motion detectors and hid trail camera. When you buy your plastic buy greenhouse plastic, NOT home depot 6mil because it rots away within 2 or three months. I made my greenhouse where I can roll up the sides... I put an exhaust fan in also. Look up www.greenhosesupply.com I believe
Those hoops are adjustable. I put 2 Inch black polly pipe sections that the white PVC will slide into but able to slide them up about 12 more inches if need be.
