I am currently using 4 foot parabolics. I liked the light spread on them, but heat is a semi-issue. If I had to do it over I would go with 4 of the air cooled hoods by sun system. Think they run around 200 each?

I will for sure. I didnt realize the heat produced by 3x1000w lights. If I just got 4 air cooled hoods from the start, I could run 4000w closer to my plants with less heat.

yeah, i have air cooled, my first light was a 1k and I DIDNT realize the 600's were soo cool(temps)... i can put that shit( 600) in my plant or on top of it/if i wanted too my 1k is always within 12-18 inches from the canopy
maybe closer if its chilly , but not really

one like that. I use a fan like this. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SPM2923709001P?sid=IDx20110310x00001i&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=27-88047413-2

You can buy duct size converters but personally i just took the 6 inch ducting that the cool tube needed as its 6 inch and then just positioned it over the 4 inch fans intake so the intake hole is kind of centered in the ducting and duct taped them in place. works just fine for me. i'll use caulk sometimes to seal it in addition to the tape as the caulk is nice and airtight but also easily peels off the fan and ducting if you want to change things. sometimes im too lazy and use a good deal of tape to make sure it stays in place.
