what size fan I need to cool 2x1000w hps lights?

I got a new tent and new light system. I will be moving out my 4x4x6.5ft tent to a 4x8x6.5ft tent. I used a 6" active air can fan for my last tent. My new tent is same specs but 4ft longer. I will be running two 1000w lights with air cooled hoods. The tent will be in the basement where it stays pretty cool. I was thinking about a 8" active air can fan and four small clip fans for air circulation.. Let me know what you guys think.

i would try the 6" fan you have and see how it goes. you will always get the best cooling when you suck the air for you light from outside the tent then through the lights then outside the tent. (keep it sealed in from the inside of the tent) and if you are going to vent for temp then get a different fan with a thermostat speed controll. you will get the best cooling that way.

this way you get the heat off the bulbs as fast as you can and the thermostat fan does not have to do much to maintain the temp. (i would also put a filter on the exaust fan)

oh and thoes clip fans will not be enough... i like box fans they move alot of air fast and are kinda thin so you can out them alon the walls or ends of the tent and you get good air flow both on the tops of the plants and through the bottom as well.

Sounds good that was my exact plan. But im using a 8" active air to cool my plants. I also got a Kronus2a PPM-4 and to control my co2, humidity temps and exhaust fan.

The bigger the better. The bigger cfm fan will allow you to put your lights closer. I say build a box, get a 12" fan and hook it to your box and have your ducting connecting to it

how do u build a box?

i built one out of wood.

A couple 2x3's a piece of OSB some screws and chaulking or silicone.

i tried both push and pull with 2x 600 cooltubes,
the pull method couldnt cope with the second light,
i eventually went cf, fan, cooltube, cooltube then out side. i use a 8" rvk capable of 950m3h for the tubes and a 6" to bring air in. i use both on a sscom controller and its never been above 80f with the light 18" away from canopy.

i run two thouwies and i have an eight inch inline fan six inch hoods so i run a reducer from 8 inch to six inch and it is a bout sixty degrees in my room

i would try raise that temp to 75-78 with light on and 68 lights off,
