Is not completely airtight. They also require oxygen to do so. A humidity dome over soil sounds like a great way to bread anaerobic bacteria in your medium, which isn't a good thing.

This one says it holds 2 cu. ft.It holds double the soil. My only complaint about the earthbox so far. It's not very big.
Soil doesn't "go anaerobic", but less oxygen in your soil will indeed breed more anaerobic bacteria, which are more likely to be pathogenic.Yes, your comment was funny to me. Having that cover over isn't gonna make the soil go anaerobic. To me that's funny, lol.
It's all good bro. He knows how poor oxygen levels create anaerobic conditions, but he knows how the earthbox works, and if you do it right, that doesn't happen. I wouldn't praise it if it did. I'm not that good of a grower, but imo it really works.
It can be used to smother it yesAhh OK. Does that kill off the living mulch?
I was worried it was something like this, lol.
I feel like it could hold more but idkThis one says it holds 2 cu. ft.

Hmm.. he didn't seem to know what that cover we are now discussing is all about, since he was asking questions about it. Have fun with it if it works for you, but I personally wouldn't cover a living soil with non-porous plastic, which is why landscape cloth is specifically made to be breathable. It's all good bro. Suit yourself. I'm not telling you what to do and if you don't like what you're hearing, you could easily remove yourself. I'm not pushing anything on you. I'm just explaining my experience. What should I read up on that my soil science text didn't cover?
I'm not sure what you think I'm missing, or what I should read. I'm willing to enlighten myself. You are saying that it works fine? I'm not saying that it doesn't work fine for you, I'm saying that there are better options.
