What size Rockwool cubes for eventual transplant to Coco Coir? And Q on pot size..

Hey everyone!

Gathering supplies for my first go and I need to order some Rockwool cubes for seedlings and eventual use for clones. I'm sure that I am just splitting hairs over the size of the rockwool cubes to use, but I can get either 1.5" x 1.5" or 2" x 2" online for cheap.

My theory is the 2x2 cubes would be better since the seedling / clone would have more 'cube' area so to speak to root in before I transplant it into it's final pot.

Then the seedling and cube would go into a pot with Coco Coir w/ 20% Pearlite mixed in, but I'm not sure on the pot size I would want to use for say a 2' x 4' grow tent in a SCROG setup. Having never grown before, I'm not sure if a 3 gallon smart pot would be enough for say 2-3 plants in the tent at a time and give me a good root growing area for a tent that size?

Thanks guys!

..... Sorry to be the one to burst your bubble but it really doesn't matter. Just make a pick and as long as you're careful no matter what your decision it's gonna grow, and it's gonna grow fast. They don't call it weed for nothing. And my current girl is in 1.5 gallons.... I wouldn't plant them in the same pot. A disease will spread easier but in separate mediums if one gets a disease you can move it and it won't spread

If you're growing in coco why are you using rockwool for seedlings & clones? you can use coco for that as well.
Honestly, because I read it on growweedeasy.com and I don't yet know any better LOL.

I figure I can start in the rockwool cubes and once they root just put them in the coco. That way if one doesn't root I'm out a whole rockwool cube and don't have to worry about watering a whole 3 gallon pot when there's just a seedling in it.

I like the bigger ones too and use 2-inch jiffy pellets for my clones. Larger pellet lets you keep larger clones stable in my domes. It takes an extra day or 2 for roots to show through the bigger pellets/cubes but it is worth it. It is much easier to TP from a solo cup to dirt with the bigger media. BigSteve.

You could start them out 3 inch pots filled with coco, thats what i do. You can also get coco cubes, the same as rockwool except made of coco. I just think it would be easier for you if you used the same medium all the way through on your first grow, less likely to run into any problems.
