What size veg tent is best for 4 plants going into 1000w HPS??

Hi,

So I'm setting up a 1000w HPS flower tent.. with a 4x4 canopy, with 4 plants.

I will be doing a perpetual grow. So I thought either a 400w or 600w MH would work best.


Now I'm not sure which tent would be best, a GL 100, or a GL120.

The GL100 is 3'3"x3'3", and the GL120 is 3'11"x3'11".


Would the GL100 be too cramped? I'm leaning towards that for lumens per sq ft but I think 4 plants could be a lot.

If those are your choices go with the GL120. (Or the GL120L) I have a GL145 for veg and a GL240 for flower. Whichever one you get get inside and have someone shine a very bright light at you from every angle. All those tents have some light leaks and you can pre-empt any of those problems. Also take a look at these tents:-e

Remember you need to be able to at least reach in and also maybe move around a bit. For veg why not use a T-5 system with mixed spectra? Less heat and amperage!!

id go with the gl120 if you got the space and a 400 is more then enough for veg.. you could probably even get away with a 250 MH. i too run in tents and love them.. good luck

Ok, thanks for the advice guys. I think I'm just going to go for the GL120.

The hydro store quoted me on the GL100 for 270 with tax. I just found a GL120 on amazon for 240 shipped. :)

Going to drop in the 400w Hortilux MH + air cooled hood and see how it goes. If they are still starving for light a month in, I'll pick up a 600w bulb and digital ballast.



As for floro. I have 2 100w t5 panels right now, 5500k. I used them to veg 2 plants. I wasn't 100% satisfied. I grow SCROG, tight and bushy, and the t5's just weren't penetrating like I needed them to. It felt like a very slow veg with florescent light. However as soon as I power up the MH they start doing serious work and seem a lot happier.


Pulling the trigger on amazon now :). Thanks again.

400watt mh... They certainly wont be going hungry for rays.

Those tents sound very expensive. My 2m x 2m x 2m was only £120

no light starving at all.. i flower in tents and veg in an open room now (i call it my ghetto room. lol). a 4x8 space can veg with one 400 , but not flowered.. its amazing how much you can learn from dumbass growers that dont know shit. i know a guy that tried a 5x8 "open" grow with one 400, which opened my eyes.. his veg was awesome but his flower lacked big time on the outside of the grow.. in a tent light dont escape like an open room.. this is also with penetrating hoods, if a wide spread hood is used you could prob get away with a bigger veg grow. a singl t5 works well on a book shelf too.. mabe veg in the open, clone on a shelf and have two flower rooms..lol

I saw where plantlightinghydr has the Lumatek LK-600 for $150. I notuced that product being discounted...wonder if a newer model is on the horizon. I didn't see what ballist you weremusing, but that one is dimmable and does well with MH or HPS.

I run a 3x3 400 mh for veg.... No heat issues with smll fans. Looking into T5 for another.just veg. Never used em. Feel like a rookie. For veg I use Virtual Sun tents..

Awesome. I have the GL 120 all set up. I'm loving it, lots of room and I can actually stand inside it!.

Right now I'm going with a 400w MH. Using 100w floro until they get fan leaves and then kicking on the 400w MH.

In the future I'll bring the power up to 600w when I have some extra cash. Appreciate the re assurances guys :).

@ El throttle.. Love the setup!
