Not sure where to start as far as strains go. Gonna go thru ralph. Probably just two strains for now. I have been reading up on all the tek and thinking monotub, and using BRF for about 5 jars and rye for 5 to get self sufficient and coco/ewc/verm for bulk substrate. I also have access to horse manure but it seems like too much hassle to get it. Is it worth it? And are frozen syringes bad? If I order now they will for sure arrive frozen.

What luck I have...the sun was shining bright on my mailbox and spores were not frozen despite temps in the single digits. Hurfuckingray! Got some b+ and amazonian strain. And they sent a freebie of...afgani pop sonifernum...hmmm.

Is horse manure "worth it"?

Depends. If you like working with the stuff that comes from the hind end of ruminents, then it is.

But what is horse manure?

Partly digested straw, hay, grass and grain, dead and live bacteria.

Consider that this mushroom happens to be a primary decomposer, why are you letting the horse have nutrients the mushroom would like?

Idk that is why I am asking the questions after digesting some of the info that is online. My guess is the horse has broken down that stuff into something more bioavailable to mushrooms. But idk. I guess I will finger it out myself.

I am going to give coco and vermiculite a try. Still have to get my rye innoculated so I have a little time.

try a lil shop of spores they always throwin in extra syringes even if you buy just one or two.horse manure pasturized with soaked straw is as good as it gets.I like fast growing rhizomorphic strains like creeper to decrease chances of contaminants.remember casing and light are otional for cube. For giant shrooms the size of your arm try outdoor beds. Just mix spent shroom mycelia in a pile of composed soil in your yard one day yo'll wake up and it will be MAGIC.

Ok I got a question. I tried rye seed for my first innoc. I am almost sure it wasnt wet enough and am about to give it another go. Its been 2 weeks, 10 jars. No contamination and no micellia growth. Soaked 12 hours, boiled 10 minutes, dryed befored jarred so no standing water in jar. Pressure cooked 70minutes @15psi. I didnt have any exploded rye seeds and i crosscut a few seeds after I boiled them and some were still dry in the middle. So I am gonna give it another go. I also have wbs but am not read up on the tek. Open to suggestions otherwise rye again but a little wetter.

Damn, I am dumping out my rye jars and they seem plenty moist. A little condensation on the lida but no standing water, rye is moist but not wet when smushed. Maybe spores were no good? I am going to try brf cakes with my 3 remaining spore syringes and go heavy 2-4cc per jar. Gonna try 2 grain jars for tranfers if successful this time. Hey at least I had zero contamination in all my jars.

Or you innoculated hot. If there is no contamination, you could have reinnoculated.

I think I found the real problem. So I ordered two syringes and they sent 4 total. I used one the firat time. Upon inspecting the other 3 syringes, only two of them had spores floating in the solution. The third had nothing but clear solution and I suspect the one I used before had nothing in it. Anyone ever have this happen?
Also, I left the pc cooker out overnight the first time and almost 24 hours this time to cool.

if they came from a reputable source email them and get another syringe also if using rye my suggestion would be a 24 hour soak then 10 min boil start timer after water is boiling set them is a strainer still steaming let dry for a couple hours then fill jars, pc at 15 psi for a hour then cool then knock up jars and try again sound like you did it all right tho. Must be a bad syringe

You dont have to see spores fir them to be there.
Not always true if you see a weak syringe it is from low quality spore prints or a shitty company. The place I use "The H Eye" always send me a 12 cc over filled (most company's fill to 10 cc) and there is ALWAYS a huge black ball of spores in it about the size of a qtr. Shake it up and your good to go. I would be more than happy to give you a link to the site in a private msG

Wome of the types i get are white spores in large dilution. I no longer play with purple spores but there need not be anything visible for there to be plenty of purple spores in a syringe. Clumos are not necessarily better.
