I actually just purchased an indica landrace package from world of seeds. It has Star 47, Pakistan Valley, Afghan kush, and Ketama.

Are they fems? I looked up world of seeds and all I saw was fems. Which are no good. You definitely don't want to breed with them.

The only fems I get are freebies.

My friends cousin just got back from afghanistan. Brought back a shitload of seeds. Chitral , hashplants, kush types, all kinds of indies he collected during his tour. Cant wait. Bound to be something groovy. Hes dishing them all out to our little gaggle of growers. In my experience its the really good land of origin Sativas that are becoming rare indeed.

For real?

These days "kush" is just an added selling pitch, like "white" or "diesel". Even known cuts like Bubba Kush and OG Kush got nothing to do with the indica landraces.

However,
Going back to landraces cuts away a long long way breeders have went in the last few decades :-/

Also exactly my point. I want to cut that away. Theres alot of good shit out there but most of the weed i get is good. I'm satisfied but it's not what i'm looking for. The best weed i've smoked to this day is the Sativa seeds Full Moon that i've grow. I'm sure it qualifies as a land race. I think a lot of the weed nowadays is bred for high yields and shorter flowering time. I want to cut that away, go back to the roots and make something based on pure quality. Yield, flowering time, and bag appeal be damned. Its more for me to smoke personally. Not to sell. Though i will don't me wrong, If i make some awesome shit i'd love to make some $$$ from it. I mean didn't all the strains we have nowadays come from landraces anyway? There are definitely a lot of strains that stand out but i think most of em are pretty much the same with a different taste and slightly different effects. I think to find something special i need to go back to land races.

You are not the first man to think that way. Some people already did what you'r talking about and released proper seeds.
A lot of bullshit breeders and a market full of seed producers instead of breeder doesn't mean that there isn't good stuff going around. Working with next generation weed is overall better, but you need to know what to work with.
Why go back to landraces when people already went a few generations ahead like you intend to do? Just need to choose the properly bred stuff, not backcrossed or selfed genetics (like "OG Kush" or "Bubba Kush") but polyhybrids can prove to be very rewarding
Stabilizing your own polyhybrids takes a long time, specially if you want to have up to par results with current breeding efforts.

I believe that in order to find truly elite cuts you need a large genetic pool and a very large selection - not the kind of stuff you usually get with landraces.
By having high variability in the offsprings you can choose the very very best cuts and breed with them.

Back in the before time there really was only one strain called Hindu Kush. But other cultivars had kush or indica genetics from that area in the strain. In all honesty back then like today hindu kush made for great breeding material. A good starting point or foundation but on its own was never keeper top shelf quality.

Kush was just another indica based strain back then is what i guess iam trying to say. The word KUSH didnt become a hip fashionable term for everything weed by dumbasses who dont know until much much later. Alot like the term "dro". Lol.

Is he a marine? I know they get practically raped going through customs when they come back to the U.S. it's dishonorable discharge getting caught bringing back seeds and possible jail time.

No he was army. Hes been back. Said it was no problem actually. On another note....i would take any of the internet "origin" stories with a grain of salt. Not saying they are liars but just watch out for internet hearsay. Especially about ganja.
