Keep them a few feet away until they get a couple weeks old but let them fully sprout before you put them under any lighting.

germinating is just to ensure they pop, just put them in the soil and let them do their own thing.

If your too impatient to wait to see if the seed is any good, chances are your to impatient to let your plant live, haha meaning don't fuck with it every 10 min or you'll kill it

plants can sense which way is up or down but just in case they get confused a paper towel method will let see and you can put it the right way and center it in the planter. does not hurt taproot unless your an idiot you shouldnt even have to really touch it

easiest way to germinate seeds i think is just to pop em in ur mouth, an just wait a few hours or 24 or 48 . then when you have a root tickling your tonsils just put it in the soil.

Green House Germination tips:

Cannabis seeds need 3 factors to germinate successfully:

• Moisture

• Warmth

• Darkness

Ideally you should use filtered rainwater, but if the tap water of your area is safe to drink you can as well use it for germination purposes. The amount of chlorine added to the water kills bacteria and impurities in the water, helping reducing the risk of infection. If the level of chlorine is too high it will slow the germination process but it will not kill the seedling. If the local tap water supply is not safe to drink then do not use it to germinate seeds. Bottled water, without additives or gas, is a good source of water for germination.

For best results, fill a glass with clean water at a temperature between 18 and 25 degrees C (room temperature).

IF YOU GERMINATE COLOR-COATED SEEDS, MAKE SURE TO USE A SEPARATE GLASS FOR EACH COLOR.

Water slowly dissolves the color-coating, making the different strains unrecognizable.

Drop the seeds into the water. The seeds should be left to soak in a dark place at a temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C / 67 - 78 degrees F. A drawer in your kitchen, away from heat sources like an oven, is usually suitable. Check the seeds after 5-10 minutes and tap down the ones that are floating. If they continue to float just let them. After 12-24 hours move the seeds onto a plate, between two wet layers of cotton or toilet paper.

If you use toilet paper use multiple plies to form a thick layer. Leave the germination plate in a closed dark space (the same drawer would be fine) and make sure to keep the layers moist by dripping some water every 6-12 hours. Do not soak them, just keep them wet.

Usually within 48-72 hours the seeds swell and split their casing shell. Seeds can take up to 5-6 days to germinate, so be patient. When the white, initial root is visible at the crack in the seed casings the seed is ready to be planted. Soaking the seed after the root is exposed can result in early root damage. Plant the seeds in a clean, pH balanced medium (5.5-6.0). Point the tip of the root downwards. The medium should be loose and light with very good drainage. We suggest a blend of good quality soil and perlite, or rockwool. Cannabis seeds should be planted 2-5 mm deep, using containers at least 10 cm. deep to allow the initial tap root to grow straight down.

The reason you use a papper towl is so after about 4 days you can throw out the ones that didnt sprout instead of wasting a pot some dirt and over a week of your time before you decide to through it out when you could have found out within a few days using a papper towl... imo

ignorance is what fuels them.......... paper towel=80's 90's technology its bad

plant in soil cover wit humidity dome and all will be well

A paper towel is technology from the 80's and 90's? I guess that makes my shit the fuck'n Space Shuttle shooting off to your Anus.

Nor was I aware that in the course of one decade the DNA makeup of the average cannabis seed advanced past this obsolete technology[?] we call the paper towel.

Anyone know when the fork and spoon will become a thing of the past? If only we could combine those two together... if only... I know it will advance mankind one step closer to utopia. I wonder what it would be called... you know... a fork and a spoon combined in one.

I think I'm on to something.

Paper towel method is usually just to speeed up the germinating process. There aint no big difference with paper towel or straight into soil really just that with paper towels you risk the chance of breaking the Taproot

hey everyone,im still somewhat of a new grower but I read ALOT and now a damn good amount about growing. now one of the things I learned way back when, when I first started learning about growing was the whole paper towel ordeal. I myself plan on putting the seads staright into the soil 1,4-1/2 inch into the soil and aplly water simple an mother nature like, but I keep hearing all of these other people using the paper towel method saying its safer because putting your beans straight into the soil doesn't have a very high sucess rate. I still plan on using the mother nature method lol, because im not trying to mess with the taproot. and using paper towels or anything else seems cheap and un natural for good growing. Just wondering what you think and what truly is the best way to do things thanks in advance for ideas and input.
I would say the main number 1 reason the paper towel method to germinate is your friend, is it does save some effort and grow medium, but if you must insist on germinating in soil i would go with something from mandala, these things just rotted in the paper towel and did not germinate anywhere but directly in the soil ...
